To all new followers: welcome! I will be your tour guide for the next 30 years, until Disneyland's 100th birthday.

Building a digital Disneyland archive at Parkendium (mediagraph.io/parkendium), currently featuring over 225,000 assets in the Public Archive.
This is a much better organizational scheme for guidemaps than that suggested by my toddlers some years back.

I remember this day so well. We rode California Screamin' like 12 times in a row walking on each time. We watched the Eureka Parade twice and both times felt like a private show.

On the way out we passed the tortilla factory & they were handing out bags of tortillas to go. Take as many as you want.
#25YearsAgoTodayAtDisneyland (2/10/2001) On its first Saturday since the February 8 dedication, Disney's California Adventure was...not very busy.

0 minute wait for California Screamin'!

I was vaguely aware of the Monorail Society in the 1990s, but I did not know that it had a newsletter!

This is the goofy shit i love to see on the internet
Not to abuse my authority, but if The Three Caballeros wins, I'm deleting Donald Duck from Parkendium, out of spite.

Donald Duck squeaker hat? Gone.

Bob Gurr Window dedication ceremony? Gone.

Donald's Boat? Gone.

Hub Statue? Gone.

A thought reinforced by getting ANOTHER file box of family negatives and prints this weekend.
Me, at 5 years old: "I am going to have so many photos to digitize when I'm older."

Back again from another hiatus, Enjoy some more #Innoventions from #Disneyland renders. Screens are probably 90% accurate now. Huge thanks to Jason Schultz for providing an great collection of reference footage! Such a fun project but the lack of documentation is a fun challenge!

Adjacent... 3-year-old in Long Beach in 2019, looking across to the Queen Mary.

"It's Disneyland!"

A lot to unpack there for her.

The really wild thing about the Dominguez Palm in Adventureland is that Timothy Carroll planted it for Ron Dominguez's grandparents as a wedding gift in 1896. Tim's great-grandson married Ron's daughter!

(Anaheim is a small town.)

In this one I am showing them/giving to the Information Board for reference a printed copy of my first Disneyland reference work, my Disneyland Timeline.

Tom Jacobson, who started in Disneyland costuming in 1969 and closed out his 45+ year career in special events passed away this month. Here he is Backstage in 2003 before the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

I see some similarities. Have we ever seen @cartarsauce.bsky.social and Mickey Mouse paint in the same place at the same time?

I think last week was my first visit to Disneyland that I knew about the Dominguez Palm (tree) and actively sought it out to take photos. I had to ask the Indiana Jones ride attendant where the tree is located.

This thread is true to the Disney's California Adventure experience of 2001: you experience it with nobody else around!
I may regret this, but since Disney's California Adventure's 25th anniversary falls on #SignageSunday, let's see if I can pull up a sign from 2001 for everything listed on the map.

We'll start, of course, at the entrance, with the postcard letters.

Historical discovery! The earliest photo of me at the Disneyland Information Board, just a couple of weeks after I started hanging around.

From August 1997, I have absolutely no memory of it. Since the Info Board is part of my origin story, this was a great find yesterday!

I didn’t really know @schmoofy.bsky.social, but apparently I should have made more of an effort. RIP, Bret.

Question for @progresscityusa.com: What information niche did the Walt Disney World-Gram fill? Did it predate Eyes & Ears? Or was it published in conjunction with it?

Reminds me of the Disneyland Lines from 5-6 years earlier, but the Disneyland one was much more informative by this point.

When Disney's California Adventure opened, the Disneyland Resort Line Cast Member newsletter included this page listing the names of all the opening Cast.

I still have a lot of work to do, but if your name is one of 6,256 between Julie Aanderud and Jamie Goldsworthy, you're in the thesaurus!

Here's some more DCA grand opening memorabilia. Spoiler alert: the grand opening map looked exactly the same as the first normal park map, except without the big "grand opening" text of course. The coin is more of a celebration of the "Resort" part of Disneyland more so than just DCA.
