Like "my favorite Spidey stories" threads? Confidentially, we in the fan community refer to them as "long underwear rants"! And as you know, they're a dime a dozen! But, we think you may find our @benreilly149.bsky.social thread just a bit...different!

Wonder Man is not only an antidote for so-called “superhero fatigue” but also an antidote for irony poisoning. A show that lowers stakes but increases the heart, Wonder Man is quite possibly the greatest MCU project ever made.

Here's a thing I drew a while ago. In the Green Goblin's first appearance, he tricks Spider-man into thinking he's going to be in a movie. There are two panels between which they travel from Hollywood to New Mexico, and I was like, "what happened on that journey??" Well, now we know...

the great @jmdematteis.bsky.social has paid tribute to Sal Buscema with a story about their collaboration on SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN 200. It's a great lesson about writing that can apply to comics as well as TV/movies. And an even better tribute to Sal's talent

I'm two episodes in and so far it's a genuinely touching love letter to craftsmanship with an intriguing slow burn mystery.
I'm three episodes into Wonder Man and enjoying it. I don't want to oversell it because it's mostly because I enjoy watching these two guys. (Ben Kingsley's character is still goofy but has more depth than in his prior appearances.) And there was a fun appearance by a great actor playing himself.

I feel like this is almost a lost art, as so many movies have the hero stumbling into victory rather than genuinely outsmarting their foe
When everything seems to be going wrong for our heroes, but it turns out to be all part of the plan.

HP was never very liberal to start with. It ain’t that deep, in very literal ways. The books always had a mean spirited nature, that Le Guin spotted way back when. The author’s views have allowed a spotlight to shine there.

Also, the books are weak. They peak by book 4.

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”

As part of her bit, Cummings mocked AOC going by her initials as suggesting she's in the same esteemed company as MLK. Given AOC's refusal to back down in the face of mysogyny & violence, I would say that yes, she is in his company and I genuinely think he would be proud to say so.
