You know as I was reading the story by Chip Zdarsky I thought this kind of thing would be right up your alley! Mike is currently dead but...comics, you know, and we're talking about a character Matt invented who retroactively became real, so death seems not even less a big deal. Make the pitch!!!

They had the opportunity to make mid-budget, high concept Trek films instead of comparing themselves to action blockbuster and comic book movie franchises.

Beyond felt the closest in spirit to TOS so of course they abandoned it immediately after

As an aside (again, apologies for the rant) I think one of the problems with many contemporary comics is they have the novelistic quality of a singular creative vision but feel isolated from what came before.

Yeah, hate that guy! BTW there is a story where through mystic means Mike Murdock retroactively becomes a real character!

Apologies for the long-winded rant, but as you might have guessed, I'm something of a fan! My heart genuinely overflows with gratitude for Peter and Harry's story.

And when Peter and Harry's friendship reaches its climax, it paradoxically feels like something inevitable but also contingent, a destiny but one no one could have seen coming, which is that weird (and beautiful) quality that life has when you reflect on it as you age.

Your SSM run with Sal builds on Peter and Harry bonding over the share grief of having lost parents early in life, of Peter choosing not to expose Norman Osborn's secret to protect Harry, of Peter pushing Harry aside in a critical moment of need to pursue revenge on Norman for Gwen's death, etc.
