I have been taking Polaroids of my garden and the views from it and divided them into seasons - an ongoing project that started a few years ago and here are a few from Winter on the Pennines.

I’m pretty much a stone-cold atheist. Jesus, though? That guy was a sharp moral philosopher, in a time and place where being one was hazardous to your health.

There's nothing quite like sitting on a hill watching the magical phenomenon of lava being thrown a couple of hundred metres up into the sky! This is a 0.3 second exposure of the eruption. I'd waited over two months to see this, having been avidly following on webcams since it began!

Was in Broadford on Skye yesterday. Got the worst chip supper I've ever had in my life, for £12.50. The only supermarket is half empty, no beer on the hottest day of the year. The roads are fucked, full of potholes. And it costs £200 to rent a room for a night. I feel ashamed of my region.

Port na Carraidh / West Ardnamurchan / Scottish Highlands The bay is joyous melting pot of elements, from the geology and the fauna to the human and community elements. Port na Carraidh / West Ardnamurchan / Scottish Highlands There’s such an array of wildlife here; from sea and golden eagles to otters, deer, wild goats and a plethora of marine life. It’s such a vibrant and natural place that has a feel all of its own. Port na Carraidh / West Ardnamurchan / Scottish Highlands As with most photography light is everything, but one thing to note and say is there’s no such thing as bad light it’s all about embracing and responding to the interplay of all lights, all weathers and all conditions and how they help shape and impact a place. Here the soft warm light illuminates the dunes and white sands as a goat quietly munches away on lunch.
