They murdered an ICU nurse and called him a terrorist.

Alex Pretti saved lives for a living.

Trump repaid him with TEN BULLETS and is now lying about it.

Anyone who supports this brutal lynching should be considered an accomplice and dealt with accordingly.

“Stephen Miller’s mass deportation methods are turning immigration, an issue Mr. Trump owned in 2024, into a political liability for Republicans in 2026.

Americans don’t want law enforcement shooting people in the street or arresting five-year-old boys.” - WSJ ed board www.wsj.com/opinion/time...

Alex Pretti made a mistake, but he wasn’t a ‘domestic terrorist.’

Sen. Jacky Rosen is calling for the impeachment of Kristi Noem.

"Kristi Noem and her department's latest attempt to mislead the American public regarding the brutal and unjustified killing of Alex Pretti is deeply shameful, and she must be impeached and removed from office immediately."

Republican politicians who think that Minneapolis is a political problem are missing the point. It is a moral problem. But they are in so deep that they cannot see just how morally bankrupt they have become. They do not understand that we are as revulsed by their complicity as by Trump's cruelty.

"Keynes failed to consider that I would smoke cigarettes and post about books I haven't read."
This whole thread is kind of fascinating to me, because it's predicated on an insurmountable ideological distinction between "liberalism" and "leftism", and then all of the examples he gives are purely arguments about aesthetics, style, emotion, association, rhetoric, etc.

One thing the Minneapolis police have become VERY good at is deescalation. If there’s an angry crowd, the police basically evaporate. If you walk a few blocks you’ll see them, but they’ve learned being invisible calms things down.

ICE does the opposite: floods in troops and starts shooting

I appreciate those out there protesting at great risk to their lives however i think the nation needs to grind this economy to a dead stop.
It's something everyone can do safely. No spending on ANYTHING but absolute necessities.
I understand some shut ins can not do this but very many of us can.

Twice this week when meeting a new person I've gotten an excited "Wow, it must be an exciting time to be a political scientist!" and both times I've answered "Not really. That's like telling someone it's an exciting to be a surgeon when there's a 63 car pileup on the highway."

I can't do anything about so many problems.

But my neighbors are elderly. And I can clear the snow off of their sidewalk while it's still mostly powder.

Part of why you don't do this is not just b/c pending investigation. Even when it was 100% justified and necessary, it's no small thing psychologically. It's traumatic in, like, a PTSD sense. To be kind of shell-shocked by it. Of course you don't put them on the street the next day. That's deranged.
CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

This morning, I recorded a video on TikTok about why DHS’s arguments for the power to enter homes without judicial warrants in immigration cases are bunk.

Nine hours later, TikTok still says my video is “under review,” and can’t be shared.

Well, here’s a link:

I flew down to south Texas today to do my job - investigate why people are dying in ICE detention centers.

I was just illegally denied entry to Dilley Detention Center. Because they have something to hide.

Greetings! I’m here on 26th and Nicolette by the Alex Pretti vigil. Minnesota Police are telling vigil goers they can’t block the street. Vigil goers are telling MPD they are going to block the street. I wouldn’t call it a standoff so much as an impasse.

Doomerism like this doesn't help anything. And at any rate, I don't think this is right empirically; Trump won in 2024 when his favorability rating was around -5. Now it's -20. Yes, support for fascism is alarmingly high, but Trump's not winning any elections today with just 31%.
I read the data a bit differently. That 31% "strongly oppose"? Yeah, that's about 1/3rd of Americans rooting for a fascist state where their team gets to kill "libtards" with impunity while laughing at their dying breaths.

That's more than enough to sustain GOP administrations forever.
YouGov is out with a new poll after ICE killed another person in Minnesota today. Abolishing ICE is now +5 among all adults, and **+12 among independents**

We are not going to have "GOP administrations forever" unless we descend into full chaos and dictatorship. Which is, to be clear, an alarming possibility, and higher probability than in recent memory. But it's still a tail outcome going forward, and treating it as a certainty strips you of agency.
