"ICE and CBP must be abolished" is the only reasonable position. We can debate the specifics of new agencies for immigration functions, but these agencies are simply too infected with a culture of impunity, racism, and fascism to continue. They're gangs with badges.
Armed ICE agents trapped US citizens in a restaurant and demanded their papers. Federal agents walked into East African restaurants in Cedar-Riverside, MN. They closed and blocked the doors. Then they demanded to see everyone’s papers. Every person present was a US citizen.

America has failed this woman in so many unimaginable ways. Heartbreaking read.
🧵This 58-year-old nurse from Maryland is seen being violently dragged along the ground by officials in Ghana.

Trump deported her there.

This abhorrent & disgusting abuse of a woman who saved American lives and cared for injured and ill Americans for 30 years.

All the details below are worse.

Rabbiatu Kuyateh was detained this summer at her annual ICE check-in, her son said. She moved to the D.C. area 30 years ago as she fled civil war in Sierra Leone.

Clark Street bus is one of the worst. So many close together stops. The busses always start to bunch up so you can be waiting a half hour and three busses in a row finally arrive.
I completed my final count. Out of 10,511 bus stops, I found that 4,360 (41%) of them could be removed to align with national best practices of 1/4 mile spacing. Long-form explainer article and an interactive map are forthcoming. Green dots are removed stops, black are kept stops.

That's a lot of work that would go into making old tweed coats. Dang. Nice rhythm they got going, but such druggery.
If you care about how things were made, not just how they look, then this connects you to an old craft tradition. Harris Tweed originated in the early 19th century as a home industry when crofters wove cloth by hand for their own use and for local exchange.

I can't imagine what kind of twisted people keep going to work at such a place, treating other humans with such cruelty.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

This messaging should be everywhere. There should be a public outcry loud enough to break through the bubble the president has wrapped himself in.
Beshear: Let me be clear. The president has both the funding and the authority to fund snap during a shutdown. In fact, every other president in every other shutdown has done so. People going hungry in this instance is a choice that this president has made.

No Kings couldn't have gone better - massive turnout, no violence, and it drove Trump so crazy his response was "Kings are good and I poop on everyone." Best of all was the effect on the millions of participants and everyone watching.

No Kings was a huge success. Just look at Trump's response.
Turnout was enormous. There was no violence. And the wannabe king is triggered.

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.
