Nice paper describing the hierarchical structure that controls Pseudomonas aeruginosa virulence; a mutational hotspot that acts as a genetic switch for hypervirulence and AMR.

Mutations in mexT bypass the stringent response dependency of virulence in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Regulatory systems behind antimicrobial resistance and virulence are poorly understood. Figueroa et al. show that the mutational state of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa regulator mexT acts as a genetic switch, controlling virulence and antibiotic resistance. They further show that mexT mutants are common in clinical isolates and exhibit hypervirulence in vivo.
