What do I want Democrats to do? If they can't call for the total abolition of ICE and the full prosecution of all its employees for crimes against humanity, what I want them to do is resign or retire.

Political theorist Elrod: "I think that if you were giving advice to Democrats .. they should feel at this point liberated to say things like “abolish ICE” and “we need immigration reform” and all the things that had sort of frightened particularly moderate Democrats for the last decade and a half."

This whole thread
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

House members got turned away from an ICE facility a week ago. That should be daily. Being more house members every time. Give the press the time. Insist on going in and make ICE arrest you

It is tough here right now in Minneapolis but Greg Bovino crying to the paper about how he’s getting his ass handed to him by plant sale moms has been a real pick me up

This is super interesting. Also, depressing.
A new meta-research study examined the time spent in review for millions of biomedical and life science articles indexed in PubMed. The conclusion is clear, female-authored articles spend longer under review compared to male-authored articles. 🧪

Why Sensory Overload Isn’t About “Too Much”: Often, it’s about how much interpretive work the brain is being asked to do as it constantly combines sensory information to figure out what’s happening, and whether it matters. By @neuroscientist.bsky.social:

There's a huge gap with your reporting if your Dispatches From MN don't mention both the direct violence *and also* all the families afraid to leave home, the businesses shut or locked down, the preschools being targeted for harassment, the local parents organizing patrols—*the day-to-day toll*

Another thing you should know about the Twin Cities, if you're not here, is that while the mayor and governor tell us to stay calm on TV, our council members and other local electeds are on the street patrolling and protecting neighbors, doing mutual aid, and otherwise serving the community.

DHS must have learned this shit from police departments across the country during BLM protests of 2020. Or they all learn it from the same trainings, that encourage them to use "less lethal" munitions in likely lethal ways.

I just found out about this. Glad Keith Porter's family has a lawyer and is pushing for justice. State of California needs to run an independent investigation, just as Minnesota should for Renee Good
