Here for my dose of news and ideas and really silly stuff.
Well well well
The Aust Parliament Sports Club (the one that ditched David Pocock) is now formally registered as a lobby group👇🏽

Anthony Albanese is the President of the Aust Parliament Sports Club.

That means the Prime Minister of Australia is currently the president of a lobby group.

Just utterly unbelievable.

New #FOI Bill an assault on Government transparency.

With Scott Morrison at least you knew he was being secret. With Anthony Albanese, it’s worse, because he likes to portray himself as transparent, but he’s not. #auspol

Opinion | Alleged Porepunkah shooter Dezi Freeman's clashes with authorities and neighbours have been in the media for years. Has tabloid media helped legitimise the grievances of Freeman and men like him?
Before the horror of Porepunkah, Australia’s media platformed Dezi Freeman for years
When Dezi Freeman was named as the suspect in a police shooting in regional Victoria, it was far from the first time his name and face had appeared in the news.

Somehow still not the worst Liberal intervention in NT history.
“Tony Abbott was en route to Hungary to address think tank backed by Viktor Orbán’s right-wing govt when he made the call: he wanted Northern Territory Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price brought into the Liberal Party fold.

It was May 8, just days after the Coalition’s devastating election loss.”

I continue to be appalled at the lack of accountability around the SLAPP case that targeted me. If I can get sued for saying a warlord sanctioned by the EU, UK, and US for his role in Wagner is involved with Wagner then can we really say there's any protection for journalists in the UK from SLAPPs?

Ahh yes, the old argument that capitalists will grow an ethics bone by magic.

This kind of argument is like watching Caligula shooting at the stars.
I mean it's not like they aren't shooting for the stars, given that they also claim the profits from AI will be shared simply because the tech is "built in the collective knowledge of humanity."

No writer got paid when they trained the LLMs on our work, mind you.

So this confirms what the PM was briefed in relation to the caravan.

We know the legislation came after. Now the question becomes why make these laws?
So the whole thing was nothing, but we got a full moral panic and more repressive anti-protest and anti-free speech laws anyway.
