new money today is all locked up in vc (which dictates incentives suicidal for the company) and the unassailable megacorps with cross-vertical efficiencies (and twisted, abhuman internal incentive structures). "making a product people will pay for" is a concept alienated from the industry at present

my opinion on the Bad Bunny halftime show, and non-English music in general, is that i think a need to “be able to understand the lyrics” displays an embarrassing shallowness of the speaker to appreciate the voice as an instrument & to appreciate music as something other than a lyric delivery system

Regarding the discord situation: permissive and censorship resistant alternatives to big platforms nearly universally struggle and will continue to struggle because they don't take UX and design seriously

"The rest of the cameras in a car like that wouldn’t even pass a DMV vision test"

By removing radar and ultrasonic sensors years ago, and refusing to adopt LiDAR, Tesla has “handcuffed its AI” to a data stream that is less reliable than what competitors like Waymo or Zoox are using.

oldhead advice from an oldhead.

every couple years, newcomers to the movement think "THIS is finally it, the moment when the dam breaks and the whole system is overthrown"

and when it doesn't happen they lose patience and get disillusioned and drop out of movement work

gotta build for long term
