A peaceful and relaxing video.

Especially nice to see drivers yielding when required as well as traffic signals that sense the presence of vehicles rather than arbitrarily timed signals that always seem to keep people waiting.

It is all so … intelligent and civilized.

The reason I go on about self-driving cars is that it's like watching somebody spend 20 minutes using a thimble to fill a kettle and them saying "I can't wait for the glorious day when I'll have a robot to carry this thimble for me"

Beginning to think that the only way to get local DOTs to stop installing these useless plastic bollards is to pass a state bill forbidding their use.

NEW STUDY: Induced demand means adding highway lanes only increases automobile traffic and urban congestion.

Same works for bicycle infrastructure + train tracks—build it, and they will ride.

Cambridge study provides data on how this dynamic works in the UK:

When talking about climate, I’m now starting with:

“Everyone makes their own decisions about climate action, but I'm walking, cycling, taking the bus/train/metro, avoiding unnecessary air travel, & not overeating or wasting food."

I follow up with:

“What are your choices for reducing CO2 output?"

Why on earth does CHP send out a silver alert which links to the former Twitter platform for more details? Is CHP using the former Twitter or is Vallejo PD the culprit?

Asking for a friend who refuses to use the former Twitter.

While sitting on a long hold with my health care provider, I came to the conclusion that nothing says “Your call is important to us …” like an endlessly repeating riff from a soprano sax player who’s passionately belting it out to the back row.

Today was a good day for chasing rainbows.

A bike with fenders, plus the right cycling clothing, lets you see amazing sights that fair weather cyclists will likely miss.

When photographing rainbows, remember angle of incidence = angle of reflection.

Building bike/pedestrian trails is just the beginning. A bigger challenge seems to be maintaining these trails.

Nothing new here, just significant debris on the #SFBayTrail in Richmond, CA.

Even if you didn’t vote for this, if you are an American this has been done in your name and you have a responsibility to do what you can to renounce and stop it. It’s not fair, but it is the duty that has been placed on us.

No DSM diagnosis for road rage & bike hate (yet). Closest seems to be Intermittent Explosive Disorder - repeated episodes of impulsive, aggressive, angry, or violent behavior disproportionate to the situation.

In my experience, that describes driver behavior we witness every day!

@alamedacountyca.bsky.social Any chance we could get something like this for Lake Chabot Rd in Castro Valley? Many people walk and run along that road and more separation is needed. More lighting is needed as well, especially at all the crosswalks. sf.streetsblog.org/2025/12/19/s...

Every time I see someone with a bike on a BART escalator, it makes me smile - especially this rider prepared for rain.

Not all policy making is so visible & tangible.

Two years after we started allowing bikes on escalators, it’s worked perfectly. I haven’t heard complaints or of any big accidents.

After an hour, my Clipper account migrated. I helped my wife do the same, & she had similar issues.

Her account finally migrated, but she lost her SENIOR Clipper card status. I did not lose my SENIOR card status during migration.

So she just REAPPLIED for a SENIOR Clipper card.

So broken ...
Finally successful in logging into the Clipper website with my existing ID and password. It seemed to automatically start upgrading my account, but the few seconds they claim has turned into over an hour with this dialog still showing. Ridiculous that this is soooo broken.
