She/her. PhD in Egyptology, now I write fiction. The Night Library of Sternendach is my novella in sonnets. The Glass Garden is space horror and family drama.
Will boost almost anything with a bat in it.

2026 is the year we should all start reading books again

Books are lovely. Libraries are wonderful places. Second hand book shops are mysterious and magical. Markets and fairs always contain surprise gems. And there are even cafes in forgotten street corners with excellent coffee and reading nooks

wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

If there are any HWA members who loved THE GLASS GARDEN, I humbly remind you of this deadline. Thank you.
If you loved any 2025 horror novel, nonfiction, story, collection of poems or prose—there are 13 categories!—and you are an HWA member, drop a rec to delight its creator(s). But at the stroke of midnight, your chance to recommend horror from 2025 for a Bram Stoker Award is no more. Go forth!
A friendly reminder for HWA members: the deadline to recommend/nominate works for the Stoker Awards is January 15! Get your recs in now!

This book from @caitlinvincent.bsky.social resonated with me as a writer, as someone who once fantasized about a theater career, and as someone still trying to "get into" opera but not sure if she likes it. Hell, as a fellow fan of BLACKADDER III!

Good stuff and I recommend it. But also…
“Opera breeds fanatics. There are opera groupies. Opera diehards. Opera obsessives. I’m not one of them.”

I still eat duck, cheese, and chicken wings.

I fly for work.

I also try — imperfectly — to eat more seasonally, reduce meat, shop local, and ask better questions.

Not because I’m chasing purity.

But because responsibility still matters — to the extent that each of us is able.

I've been mostly offline today and I saw Erik Von Daniken died. He was a virulent racist and bigot and a convicted felon, and his alien archaeology "theories"
did incalculable harm to the field of archaeology. Those are his legacies.
