She/her. PhD in Egyptology, now I write fiction. The Night Library of Sternendach is my novella in sonnets. The Glass Garden is space horror and family drama.
Will boost almost anything with a bat in it.

If your resolution this year is to support more independent bookstores, hi!👋🏽

We’re Bookshop.org, an ethical alternative to Amazon for buying books online where every purchase supports indie bookstores all over the U.S. 😌📚

(And our CEO has never gone to space, just saying)

A reminder - before Trump, MAGA, Musk and Fox rewrote history - that this is what the entire country agreed had happened five years ago today:

It's Epiphany, so it's a cool time to read one of my favorite Tanith Lee stories, "The Origin of Snow."

I published this last year and am posting it again because I'm proud of it and hell, I want to.

Perhaps you’ve heard the tale of a poor merchant who set out to seek his fortune, leaving his daughter home with the promise of a rose. There was a storm. There was a castle. There was a Beast.

Lately I've discovered I can stop my cat doing something annoying like sitting on my computer or eating painter's tape by saying, "Hey, Milo! Come here and be a good boy!" He'll come right over for pets, which I guess is what he wanted anyway.

Then back to the painter's tape!

I watched THE LORAX (2012) this week and, surprisingly, I didn't hate it. Huh.

I called my 3 reps today. My husband called, too.

I encourage you to call yours.

Especially since you're likely to get the answering machine and won't have to sound eloquent to a living person. This is my preferred way/time to call.

Well, what a mornin'.

Sigh.

If you need a distraction and still have bookstore gift credit burning a hole in your pocket, I humbly suggest these.

Doing my annual #Tanuary a little differently this year. As I'm starting to run out of new Tanith Lee stuff to read, I'm gonna start with the tribute antho edited by @thisjulieday.bsky.social.

And then, hell, I'll probably reread The Silver Metal Lover if I've got time left in the month.

Anyone else having this problem with the Grinder? I go to a market page, click "Search For Pieces," and nothing comes up. Even when I know I have eligible pieces. Even when the market is brand new to me.
@diabolicalplots.com, is this a thing you've seen before?

That does not bode well.

It's tough being on the East coast of the US on New Year's. There's no one a time zone to the east of me so I can watch their NYE celebration and go to bed at a decent time.

Just watched DOCTOR WHO: "Last Christmas."

The perfect chaser/antidote to THE POLAR EXPRESS.

My God, I had the same thought watching this last night!
They call it the Polar Express but it stops in front of every child's individual house more like the Polar Local. More like the Polar Local. (shuffling note cards, adjusting mic stand) Polar Local

Hearing Santa tell the main character in a TV Christmas movie, "I was running out of ways to kill you," was not something I saw coming.
