She/her. PhD in Egyptology, now I write fiction. The Night Library of Sternendach is my novella in sonnets. The Glass Garden is space horror and family drama.

Doing my annual #Tanuary a little differently this year. As I'm starting to run out of new Tanith Lee stuff to read, I'm gonna start with the tribute antho edited by @thisjulieday.bsky.social.

And then, hell, I'll probably reread The Silver Metal Lover if I've got time left in the month.

Anyone else having this problem with the Grinder? I go to a market page, click "Search For Pieces," and nothing comes up. Even when I know I have eligible pieces. Even when the market is brand new to me.
@diabolicalplots.com, is this a thing you've seen before?

MELANCHOLIC?

That does not bode well.
Take a screenshot of this GIF, and whichever new word you land on is YOUR word for 2026.

Let's. Go.

It's tough being on the East coast of the US on New Year's. There's no one a time zone to the east of me so I can watch their NYE celebration and go to bed at a decent time.

Just watched DOCTOR WHO: "Last Christmas."

The perfect chaser/antidote to THE POLAR EXPRESS.

My God, I had the same thought watching this last night!
They call it the Polar Express but it stops in front of every child's individual house more like the Polar Local. More like the Polar Local. (shuffling note cards, adjusting mic stand) Polar Local

Hearing Santa tell the main character in a TV Christmas movie, "I was running out of ways to kill you," was not something I saw coming.

If you're in or around NYC, this beautiful dog desperately needs a home. I guarantee he will make your hard days bearable and your best days better. Please consider adopting, so he doesn't have to suffer in this kennel.

Polar Express, our merry Christmas train!
Our most weird, most hard, most strange and expensive
Cold-blooded horror of the new school…
Just one of a hundred sad old trains

hey, fellow Massholes, let’s check in on the daycares near us and make sure they’re okay

call mayors, city managers, Select Boards

this is particularly important where daycares near us serve children from targeted racial and ethnic groups and employ people from these groups

we keep us safe
Trump guys are about to Comet Pizza every third daycare center because they think they are all fronts for Somali money laundering. They're only doing this near cities with progressive mayors. This is straight up Government by LibsOfTikTok.

I call shenanigans on BBQ-flavored Terra Chips, which I tried quite by surprise recently.

Why coat these chips in a flavoring that becomes the only thing you can taste, and not the veggies themselves?

And why spend so much on these when there are cheaper, just as BBQ, chips out there?

I am reposting this not because I'm looking for awards, though heaven knows those are nice and I probably wouldn't say no, but because this year sucked and I made these anyway and I am very proud of them.

It's the end of the year, and time for my list of favorite reads from 2025! Bear in mind that some of them aren't published yet, as I have access to ARCs (but trust me!) I seem to have read an inordinate amount of parasite-related books this year. Huh. #Booksky #Books

Trying a new recipe, but bought too much meat at the store (had to, don't want to explain) so I had to lock the cats up while my husband butchered it to the best of his ability.

In a related story, I chopped a fennel bulb for the first time.
