What's with authors just completely ignoring genre conventions in their writing? This book I'm reading has a lady in a giant mech, and she has yet to be fucked by the mech, or fuck somebody else inside the mech. Why is there even a mech in this book?

Canada must help Cuba. Here is my latest about Canada's long and deep relationship with the island nation, and how Carney's Davos speech turned out to be all talk and no action.

Just wanted to say thanks to the many actual academics working on AI's deleterious effects on social economies and culture replying with links to their work. I'll just quote skeet them here

(I'm not an academic, I'm a hacker and trans rights researcher with some skin in tech and humanities)
Insightful thread.
I think this argument rhymes with work @ntusikov.bsky.social and I have done using Susan Strange’s knowledge structure concept. AI’s effect on society is primarily in its reconception of knowledge away from “scientific” expertise and toward correlation-driven oracular knowledge.
There's a kind of intellectual malaise among a certain kind of socialist that just doesn't understand automation and I think probably comes from not having worked much on or around it.

The prospect of AI as a fantasy capacity to automate labour and free us from drudgery I think corresponds to...

very excited to have my response included in the latest Boston Review forum against Democratic moderation! here it is, my best argument for why Dems shouldn't "moderate" on transgender rights & LGBTQ issues more generally (as they are inextricably linked): www.bostonreview.net/forum/how-no...

If you only listen to my podcast and never watch it, you might miss the funny memes I make.

For example, this week Jamelle made the joke that "Tom Cotton" sounds like the name of the final boss of slavery and so I made this meme for this episode.

Cuts to the research & scientific expertise that guard public health - in this case food safety - are very troubling in light of Canada’s weakened ability to rely on US science.

Protecting Canadians requires more, not less, in these areas.
