He was too good for us. Both as a person and a player. There can be no hope for DC United with these owners
Posted by DC United forward Christian Benteke, on his personal Instagram.

I truly cannot think of another case in MLS history where a higher-paid, more productive & effective player was so badly squandered by the team that signed him. Really, a total shame.

What?!?!?
After taking the team to the World Cup playoff, Stanley Menzo has resigned as Suriname national team manager.

"I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together, and it has been a great honor for me to be part of this extraordinary journey," he wrote in a statement.

337. This isn’t really The Last Jedi’s fault so much as The Force Awakens for ending in the middle of a scene, but the Sequel Trilogy was fucked the moment it necessitated one movie immediately following the other. Star Wars needs those implied, shifting spaces between movies to breathe.

137. The best lightsaber battle in any Star Wars media is this one in the final season of Rebels, where a broken Darth Maul finally chases an aged Ben Kenobi to the edge of the Galaxy.

YES
131. Empire Strikes Back is only better than the original Star Wars if you accept the premise of the franchise as a serialized narrative. Star Wars is the better movie; Empire is the better Episode.

Re-tweet except for the last sentence. I don't think they're that similar outside of being composed and sinister
83. Peter Cushing’s performance as Grand Moff Tarkin is the most chilling of any villain in a Star Wars movie, including Vader and Palpatine. The whole thing of Thrawn is “You know who I miss? Tarkin. Let’s make a new one.”

Very real. The point of the purge was that Jedi were no longer part of the culture or decisions, and that they became an outlawed class. Not that they ceased to exist as individuals. Courageous people always keep hope alive, real life has shown us that
13. It’s perfectly fine that there are a bunch of secret Jedi banging around after the Purge. Even if there were a thousand of them, the Galaxy is huge. Lucas even suggested 1,000 scattered Jedi survived in one of his earliest drafts.

I don't even care anymore, do it
A Concacaf Champions Cup club should 1000% come in and offer Benteke a max TAM deal.
As expected, D.C. United declines Christian Benteke’s contract option, making him a free agent, but “we remain in discussions regarding a potential return.”

DCU also declines options on Kristian Fletcher, Randall Leal, Derek Dodson and Rida Zouhir but in talks with Fletcher.

I truly think he'd do really well with them. He's not a great tactical coach but he's an elite motivator, and I think thats what Jamaica needs the most
Per sources, former #CanMNT and Toronto FC head coach John Herdman has emerged as a candidate for the Jamaica job ahead of the World Cup playoffs.

Curaçao qualified ahead of Jamaica, and Steve McLaren resigned.

Early stages.

Interesting that Infantino just made that deal with Trump and then the WH is instantly like "nope"
The situation hasn't changed from the Gold Cup. Haiti's team and delegation will get in, they'll be fervently supported by U.S.-based fans but they will not be 'whole'

Hopefully the World Cup qualification convinces more neighboring countries to reasonably consider visas for clubs/trialists.
U.S. State Department confirms to @theathletic.com no exemption for World Cup fans from Haiti (under a U.S. travel ban). They say applicants may be considered “if their travel would advance a U.S. national interest… expect such exceptions to be very rare”

Is it a threat to free speech when the President of the United States threatens to yank the broadcast license of a channel whose reporters are asking him challenging questions?

I ask because I feel like there used to be tons of pundits worried about free speech. Where'd they go?
Trump in response to an Epstein question: "ABC, your company, your crappy company is one of the perpetrators. I think the license should be taken away from ABC because your news is so fake and so wrong. And we have a great commissioner, a chairman, who should take a look at that."
