I think my favorite compliment that a new friend can give me is "YOU used to be a Republican?!"

are you annoyed a marginalized person once told you "it's not my job to educate you"?

1 - i'm guessing you've never been drafted by mere existence into the emissary corps
2 - sometimes we don't speak because we know our limits & prefer you consult a different person prepared to do comms work

if you're STILL complaining about the left:

1 - the actual left has no institutional support or power
2 - many leftists working on actionable things are occupied trying to keep people the center abandoned alive
3 - are you maybe confusing "all leftists" with a poster who annoyed you one time?

fascism is stopped when enough people say one of two things:
1) "nah, I'm not doing that"
2) "nah, you're not doing that"

a lot of people want to imagine how they'll say the second thing, but you should *really* start practicing the first one

“If you take away the [Senate’s] powers and let it all get concentrated in the Executive Branch, then you really risk those powers being used against the American people.”

This is a really helpful summary of a complex issue that can’t be summed up in a tweet.
President-elect Donald Trump has indicated that he may use recess appointments to fill his cabinet positions and other roles — even though this is unprecedented and his party will control the Senate.

We explain how this could threaten our democracy.
What are Recess Appointments? How Could Trump Use Them to Undermine Democracy?

Three incumbent city council members go down in Odessa after they institute a $10,000 bounty on transgender people in bathrooms.

This could be a strong rebuke of the acceleration of anti-trans panic in Texas we have seen and are poised to see more of.

I’m at the age where my friends’ parents are dying apace, and I’ve found the kindest thing I can do for them is help with the obituaries. If you’re someone whose job entails writing or you simply have a knack for it, offer to help write, edit, or proofread the obit. It’s often appreciated.

Trans folks move through the world with more courage than most of us will ever have to demonstrate in our lives. It shouldn’t have to be this way.

I will be:
-Out front at the protests
-The problem child to all of my representatives
-A place of safety for the trans people in my life—especially kids
My guess is that a lot of trans people will be feeling a ton of stress and worry over SCOTUS today.

If you are a cis person, quote this and say why you support trans people and what you are willing to do to support us if the government comes for us.

I was neck-deep in conservatism in 2014.

By 2017, I was protesting Trump’s Muslim ban at DFW Airport.

By 2020, I was working as a campaign manager for a progressive candidate running for a state-level office and had helped 9 openly LGBTQ+ candidates win their school board and city council seats.
low key the most egregious condescension is this idea that conservatives do not have agency and are not making choices but are purely reactive and have no mind of their own
if you live around conservatives, a common bumper sticker reads “liberalism is a mental disorder.” you’ll see effigies of dem politicians, unhinged screeds about satan-worshipping dems written on lawn signs. this stuff gets ignored while any hint of condescension from liberals is treated as endemic

I know some folks in my network know someone who could speak to this. Help a journalist out?
Currently seeking out trans people in or around Odessa, TX who'd be willing to talk with me for a story regarding the bounty bathroom ban in the state. If you or someone you know is near the city, my DMs are open - let's chat. Alternatively, we can also use Signal.
