if you played sonic the hedgehog and put down the controller, sonic would look at you and tap his foot impatiently. this was proof that sega genesis cartridges had souls. the decision was made to make the storage cases a lot larger than the cartridges so they would have room to move around in there

Rowling is no Lovecraft, whose bigotry is mitigated on account of him being a big dead bitch. Rowling is alive and uses the money earned through things like this to fund a transphobic hate campaign. There is no excuse for buying anything with Harry Potter branding.

As someone who grew up experiencing bigotry from the 9/11, it means the world to see an Indian Muslim lead our country by his example. To remind us what good governance looks like, and can only be accomplished through mutual cooperation and fostering a true sense of national camaraderie.

production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

And obvs it’s not OP’s fault, none of this is! What I’m trying to highlight is how optics play a role in how people perceive reality. What I’ve provided are empirical metrics which matter less than an engineered image.

This argument always confuses me because despite being 1.5% of the population, South Asians are 10-12% of Healthcare Workers, 22% of Programmers, and own 50% of the Hospitality Industry. Over 78% own a Bachelors Degree or higher, meaning that they are disproportionately represented in academia.
The problem with the South Asian/Indian racism discourse is that a lot of people’s daily exposure is through scam artists and robocallers.

Like even though South Asians have a small population, they largely work in service industries and academia which puts them into direct contact with large swathes of the population. If you’ve ever needed a doctor, or had a college professor, they very well might have been Desi!
