In the good old days of Twitter I'd have known about this without having to load the National Rail app. Just wish that some brands would make an effort to also post over here.

Same thing with that obnoxious "Grok apologized!" screenshot that was going around yesterday. It was specifically asked by a user to do that! It's something that just tells you whatever it is you want to hear. Stop acting like it has insights into company policy and stuff.

Whilst I've won 800 points a few times before at @octopus.energy it's the first time I've got it back to back on the same day.

Been online too much today, this LEAP document on the planning portal feels like it was in the recent Epstein docs.

My second annual payment has come out for @fotoapp.co. I'm posting around once a week, but still great value.

Weird season this one. Fulham in 15th are currently 6 points off relegation, and 6 points off Europe.

Going to attempt to do this year in Python as that's the current day-to-day language, although I'm sure I'll fall back to PHP or Excel at some point.

The first #AdventOfCode 2025 puzzle comes out in about five hours! What's your plan? What language(s?!) are you using? What's your IDE of choice and why is it Vim? Do you have a comfy chair? Did you check out the beta release of Lua 5.5? How much sleep have you gotten? Drinking enough water? 🌟 ❤️ 🎄

It's a shame that the NowTV retention method is 50% off if you commit to 12 months instead of the previous 50% off for the next 6 months but can cancel whenever.

My Lenovo Smart Clock is dying. No good for bedside with all the flicking. Anything similar on the market which supports Google Assistant these days?

Hate it when Royal Mail are used for a parcel. The tracking assumes that the postman will deliver in the morning, but most times it is not him. It also has it down as still in Nottingham, but history suggests that it's probably in Newark on a van.

This is one of the problems I have when YouGov ask the question. I believe there is an immigration problem, but mainly around the way the government keep trying to stop it, instead of being honest about it and letting more people in.
Next is open-ending.

Shown here from @ipsosintheuk.bsky.social, immigration also tops the list even when asking open-ends.

We ran our own version of this and found that responses show that mentions of immigration reflect salience rather than a fixed attitude: people raise it for different reasons.

The Sun has been told Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will on Monday propose confiscating jewellery, watches, necklaces from asylum seekers to meet asylum costs

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT

It will also mean people's refugee status will be reviewed every 2 and half years. If this policy was in place now, that would mean the Home Office having at least another 67k decisions to process over the next year (the number of initial decision grants made between April 2023 and March 2024)
Shabana Mahmood has vowed to end Britain’s “golden ticket” for asylum seekers by forcing people arriving illegally to wait 20 years before they can apply for permanent settlement
Shabana Mahmood: ‘Illegal migration is tearing Britain apart’
The home secretary is planning to introduce a 20-year wait for permanent stay to end a ‘golden ticket’ for asylum seekers

Thanks to months of pitch rolling, the Labour government has now effectively told anyone paying attention that income tax rises are necessary, but they’re not going to do them because they’re politically weak. Let’s see how that plays!

That road runner video is ai, stop sharing it, the movements are floaty and it goes way too fast at the end. Plus road runners run with their heads down not up. Stop letting ai slop poison the internet.
