Only Dems could be this scared going into a blue wave election.

Every time one of those polls come out, Democrats ask “why do Republicans always poll so much better on things like the economy, national security, etc.?” and it’s because anytime voters ask Democrats to do something about that their response is “fuck you, you stupid, stupid idiots”

Not headline news. No real fuss by Democratic leaders. No calls to censure. No pushback. No questions asked of GOP leadership by the press.

Just totally accepted anti-Muslim bigotry across the board.

You cannot "train" or "reform" this away, @booker.senate.gov.

Abolish and defund ICE. Raze the entire agency to the ground.

The more I think about this, the angrier I get. It takes a particularly virulent strain of sociopathy to sit and let hard-working people serve you a meal knowing that you plan to arrest them and send them off for deportation once they're off of work.

Really depraved shit.
A few days ago, Fox News was whining about ICE agents getting heckled at a Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, in the town of Willmar, ICE agents had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, waited until it closed, then confronted and arrested three workers as they left.

When you ask rich people to envision a world with no poverty you are asking them to envision a world where nobody has any motivation to clean their toilets for them, make their dinner for them, or drive them around all day. That’s not a world they want to live in.

They will say yes without hesitating and they won’t feel like you caught them out.

I went to grad school with rich people, I taught their kids. They sincerely believe that a suffering underclass is an essential component of human society and sucks for you that you got born into it.
maybe instead of asking socialists whether billionaires should exist we should be asking billionaires whether poverty should exist

The fact that Vanity Fair hired Nuzzi after she *admitted in her book* to helping RFK get a role in the Trump administration is one of the most damning indictments of elite media I've ever seen.

Not only is VF sweeping it under the rug but no one else in elite media seems perturbed by it either!
At the very least, these big media pubs have some explaining to do

ICE raids are not the first time this was made explicit. I think people downplay how much Jim Crow was not just about controlling Black people but it was also about controlling white people. If you thought racism was dumb and acted that way you could end up with a bomb in your home
Just keep coming back to the fact that keeping people in a constant state of terror is a form of mass disablement and essential to the eugenic project that is the United States.

Key point here. @nytimes.com made the editorial choice to elevate Third Way memo because it buttressed "Dems divided over Abolish ICE" story they set out to tell. And Third Way produced the memo because they knew it would get media attention from reporters looking to tell that story. It's all rotten
I think Dem electeds should take moral stances & then work to change public opinion.

But it's notable that another centrist Dem group has a memo that 1) contradicts Third Way's "don't say 'Abolish ICE'", 2) is based on actual research, 3) didn't get an NYT story.

I'm sorry, Appeasement Democrats, but we already tried your way. Working to hide Trump's malfeasance from the public, sanding off as many rough edges as possible, working to avoid confrontation under the theory that he wants confrontation, then trying to move on as if it didn't happen failed. Badly.

Just so people outside of MN know - a lot of the US citizens getting “arrested” by ICE never get processed at Whipple. They are roughed up during the arrest and then often dropped off miles from where they were picked up. It means we don’t know the true scale of what ICE is doing based on ICE stats

I don’t think a message that tells the people of Minnesota that whatever happens next is up to them and will depend on the choices and actions they choose is a good message, largely because none of that is true.

State investigators have been on the scene in North Minneapolis.

I know you’re angry. I’m angry. What Donald Trump wants is violence in the streets.

But Minnesota will remain an island of decency, of justice, of community, and of peace.

Don’t give him what he wants.

.@PabloReports: Would you vote for any funding increases for ICE?

Warren: Not without more restrictions. This is an agency that is out of control. If we don’t get some restrictions in place, they’re going to put more American citizens at risk.

The Pentagon used a secret aircraft painted to look like a civilian plane in its first boat attack, according to officials briefed on the matter.

The laws of armed conflict forbid combatants from feigning civilian status.

That is a war crime called "perfidy."
