I love the original Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I absolutely loved the new remake. It’s the right blend of the original book’s story with the first film’s awesome action, and the themes are still relevant today.

Predator: Badlands is a completely new take on the franchise, and is one of the best films in the series as a result of it.

Today's results, from Prop 50 passing in California to Zohran Mamdani becoming mayor of New York City, reminds me of something I often think of regarding hope, people, and God.
In one episode of Futurama, to keep the story short and get to my point, Bender gets shot into space, where he first...

About to watch K-pop demon hunters in an actual cinema, and it’s a singalong.
Pray for me. Either I don’t sing and look weird, or I sing badly and look worse.

It’s Halloween season, and I love dedicating time during October to watching scary movies. And often times, various movies have unnecessary…

I’ve seen a lot Frankenstein movies in my life. The new one by Del Toro? It’s the first one that made me think of it as “beautiful.” Like, “touched my soul” beautiful.

Thanks to AMC scream unseen, I got to see Shelby Oaks early.
And while it has a strong start, it’s definitely one of the weakest endings I’ve ever seen in a scary movie.
Hopefully Chris Stuckmann learns from this and gets to make a truly good movie later.

Remember:

- they DO NOT CARE about your arguments/rebuttals

- they DO NOT CARE about your dunks

- the person running the accounts was specifically hired to drive engagement BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY; it’s the algorithm they’re catering to

This is a game, and to them you are data to be manipulated.

Remember folks. The original bluesky ethos by us bluesky elders (apparently I count?) is block and move on.

Don't quote dunk, don't pick fights.
Block, and move on.

This is what made this site unpalatable to the right early on, and we can continue to make it unpalatable to them.

Swearing in isn’t some ceremony. You aren’t a member of Congress until it happens. He knows that.

No phones, no staff, nothing.

I had to escort her into the Capitol on Wed bc Capitol police must treat her as a public visitor until she’s sworn in. And solo visitors aren’t allowed during shutdown!
Johnson: "Grijalva should be working for her constituents right now. I don't know what she's doing. I keep seeing their political stunt videos. She should be in her office. She should be working or in the district for her constituents" (Grijalva is not in fact a Rep. b/c Johnson refuses to seat her)

This is a much more in-depth and well-reasoned explanation of WHY present tense for the sake of present tense falls so flat. (And, conversely, the strengths of present tense which so often go underutilized.)
I don't think there's any inherent superiority to any particular tense. BUT...

My problem with the proliferation of present tense usage (as someone who's pubbed something like half a dozen books in present tense) is twofold.

First of all, most writers aren't exploiting the strengths... 1/
We like to pretend the endemic use of the present tense in modern fiction is a stylistic choice. But usually it's a cheap way to disguise mediocre prose, lack of structure, or both. It's like a row of showy petunias planted along a house to disguise cracks in the foundation.

Tron: Ares has incredible visuals, a rocking soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails, and loads of fanservice… and it’s still the weakest of the Tron films because of its script and the weakness of its title character who is played like a plank of wood by the overrated Jared Leto. #tronares

I was a skeptic about the import of the Epstein files.

But 3 invasions of cities, one military buildup outside Venezuela, a government shutdown, and so many other things meant to distract have me convinced whatever’s in there is the biggest presidential scandal in U.S. history.

Good Boy is one of the best horror movies I’ve seen, as it follows a dog’s POV as he tries to protect his human from supernatural forces.
