the actual suicide of the West will be combining a rapidly aging population with hostility to migrants. however we must give credit to East Asia, especially Japan, for pioneering this model.

Looks like Trump will sign the bill to release the Epstein files – perhaps as early as tonight – and then he'll have Bondi insist that they can't release the files because of an "ongoing investigation" that Trump himself ordered.
Senate Republicans were so eager to dispense with the Epstein measure that they agreed with Schumer to declare it passed by unanimous consent--even though it has not formally been sent over by the House yet. It may land on Trump's desk tonight.

And then the moral injury of living in a political environment where he gets away with it.

There is a complete vacuum among Republican politicians where decency and self-respect are supposed to reside.
GOP Rep. Salazar won't criticize Trump calling a woman reporter "piggy" -- "President Trump is a very different type of politician. But I always say I look at his policies and not his personality. Nobody is perfect."

there was not even a disparate impact analysis. it was purely disparate intent. "you intended to change the racial makeup of districts based on the percentage of their population which was of a particular race, and you said that you were doing this."

lmao. reading the opinion on the Texas gerrymander, the court, reasonably, ruled that (a) the Trump admin had sent Texas a letter demanding that it dismantle districts based entirely on their racial makeup; (b) that Texas acknowledged this as their motivation when they did this; (c) this is racist.

The reason we have laws* against bribery is that companies will absolutely bribe politicians at the very first opportunity if it is good for the bottom line, because they see it as a sound business decision, not a civilizational betrayal.
