If you're not actively reducing the risk of illness, maybe ask your organization, "why?" Are you comfortable hosting a celebratory event that requires people to self-segregate? Are you okay allowing illness that can cause physical and economic hardship to spread without any mitigation? /end

Some people need to avoid illness because they can't risk losing their job & don't have access to paid sick days. Some people have underlying disabilities that increase risk for even worse negative outcomes. Some people can't rely on vaccination because of allergies or other medical conditions. /2

I call this thread “why I’ll be eating Canadian products for the next decade”.
NEW: Billions of pounds of food are imported to the U.S. each year.

The FDA inspects foreign producers to ensure what we're eating is safe from pathogens and dangerous manufacturing practices.

But now, after Trump's drastic staff cuts, these inspections have plummeted to a historic low.

Foreign Food Safety Inspections Hit Historic Low After Trump Cuts
The dramatic shift in oversight comes at a time when the U.S. has never been more reliant on foreign food, which accounts for the vast majority of the nation’s seafood and more than half its fresh fru...

Hey, potential indexers ... ask me about my indexing course at TMU staring in January.

And, if you can't take mine, take Jola Komornicka's (@closereadingie) course. Starts a few weeks later.

In case you're wondering how reliable the MS Word "similarity check" is in its "Editor" function: it just found 10 similarities to online content in a file that is just website text collated into 46 pages. ALT: It should have flagged almost every line as existing online verbatim, but did not.

The Lake George wildfire is now under control. That means the fire is responding well to suppression efforts. It is not expected to grow beyond the current estimated 288 hectares. We anticipate extinguishing it before winter conditions arrive. No structures were damaged.

I like this plan.
I have a thing that is saving me these days.

Every Monday, or Sunday night, I look at my schedule, consider my anxiety, & cancel or move anything that I think isn’t urgent & is causing me too much stress for something not urgent.

It’s… really helpful.

You don’t have to do everything.
