Contrary to popular belief, more time on social media doesn't make kids anxious or depressed: kids who are already anxious or depressed spend more time on social media, because it's where they find support, community, and help from their peers.

Banning under 16s from social media will not stop kids accessing social media, but it will make kids less likely to tell an adult when they run into trouble online.

Young people, parents and others dealing with teens need education and support to learn how to navigate social media safely.

We (the world at large) are making enough fucking babies. We're cool on the babies. We need to start FEEDING the babies and VACCINATING the babies and WELCOMING the babies to various places, but we have babies out the wazoo. They just might have different melanin levels

Kind of crazy that evidence is mounting that the world is run by a group of rapists, pedophiles, and men convinced of women’s inmate natural inferiority, and the pundit class is trying to convince us that the real social crisis is that men are victimized and lonely because women have too many jobs.
You just know that “Did Women Ruin the Workplace?” bit would have done NUMBERS in this little clique
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

This is clearly a sign of us all being poisoned by business-brain, where we are all soaking in this endless propaganda about how rich and powerful people MUST be clever because how else would they be rich and powerful?

It is not brains. It is luck. Luck, hereditary wealth and rat cunning, mostly

It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.

It’s all gender, folks.
one thing you see in the discourse here is an effort to equate a recognition of the diversity of the working class with “neoliberal identity politics,” so as to make one of those options the only acceptable one

It’s incredibly disheartening to read this. Negative attitudes that are increasing contribute to behaviours, that contribute to violence against women, children & marginalised people.

A reminder that NZ increase in Govt spending during 2020 - 2022 was middle of the pack by any sensible measure you choose. Treasury for *some reason* are still using a rushed together, inconsistently measured, and hopelessly out of date IMF report from 2021.
