Heavenly Father, my brothers, my sisters and I bring our tiredness and our striving to You. Meet us with rest; teach us Your gentle way. Replace our heavy load with Your light yoke, steady our heart, and give him strength for what matters. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

The trivialization of women exists as an ongoing, malevolent belittling: whatever is consistently and without opposition declared to be irrelevant – like so much that women experience– loses its language; perhaps it may echo for a while within a person, but it creates no response.

One thing I’ve been trying to do (and wish the media would also do) is to stop using the euro-centric term “Middle East”.

Other terms like “Arab” or “Islamic” world also inaccurately reflect cultural diversity in the area, and deny the existence of Arabs and Muslims in other parts of the world /1
