Shaking my head at the hysteria about the BBC's Trump error and the accusations of bias.
The BBC annoys enough people across the political spectrum on a regular basis to demonstrate that it does a pretty decent job.

In response to Trump's threat to sue the BBC, I hope the BBC says "Go on, then."

It needs reform but I am a big advocate of the BBC in general. However, when it gets itself in trouble like this, the spectacle of the BBC hauling itself over coals on its own news channel is always rather surreal. Would any other broadcaster do its mea culpas quite so publicly?

Yet another horrifying story of a young person taking their life and this time seemingly encouraged to do so by an AI chat bot. When are we going to realise that these companies have no concern for our welfare? They need to be regulated and made accountable. #BBCLauraK

I am not a Labour voter but watching Laura #Kuenssberg try to make something out of this absolute non-story about David Kogan with Lisa Nandy is painful.

Compare and contrast Obama with Trump. Right now the world - with all its pain and challenges- needs leaders like Obama.
Remember the time Obama personally caught a fainting woman during his speech — rather than just blankly staring like a sociopath?
Character isn't something you tell people about.
It's something you live.

This is a brilliant example of how to engage with another human being without any kind of patronising or superior behaviour. Crouches down to eye level, maintains the same tone of voice he uses for everybody else, shows empathy.
Just so much more human and decent than Trump. And right.
Bravo.

Contrast this with Trump's infamous mocking of a disabled journalist
This is disability visibility.
Mamdani listened. He didn’t pander or talk over the disabled journalist.
He acknowledged his concerns and gave real responses about how he plans to fix them.
1 in 4 Americans has a disability, it’s a huge number of voters.
Don’t ignore us!

One for my community of brand strategists. It's an old post but seems even more relevant today. Our obsession with data is killing empathy, creativity and distinctiveness. And AI is making it even worse. andywheatley.com/2023/06/19/m...

Paul Nowak makes one of the most significant observations of modern life in the UK. That there was a time, not so long ago, that being poor was because you were out of work or couldn’t find a job. Now there are millions of people with jobs living in poverty. It’s a terrible reality. #BBCQT

Lessons for the UK re Farage from Trump.
"He’s popular when opposing. He’s deeply unpopular when required to run anything."
It's almost as if disaster is predictable.

Dems just won everything remotely winnable. But I expect the British derp on “we must understand Donald Trump’s popularity and/or imitate Trump” to continue. He’s popular when opposing. He’s deeply unpopular when required to run anything. There’s your lesson.
This is insane. Is there *any* race that was expected to be at all close that the GOP won?

The British press’ obsession with failed politicians or ones who have damaged the country continues.
Hannan and Frost in the Telegraph.
Sunak in the Times.
Kwasi Kwarteng in the iPaper.
Johnson in the Mail.
Gove editing the Spectator.
Farage everywhere.
All of them shamelessly honking out their ‘Listen to me!’ garbage, as the country flails around in the unbelievable mess they’ve made.
Nauseating.

As everybody knows, Field Marshall is an elite military unit with very heavy muscles. At 2024’s inspection he weighed 14.5kg & was told to lose 2kg. Yesterday, he weighed 17kg. During his subsequent court martial he claimed he was told to put ON 2kg not lose it. The Regiment is investigating. #FMJPC

It was lovely to see the Bradford audience push back on Matt Goodwin's divisive rhetoric. A community that knows first hand what it means to be multi-cultural. On the other hand, Goodwin's journey from academic to right wing/GBNews mouthpiece is sad. #BBCQT

I’m not particularly bothered about Rachel Reeves’ housing error. What does concern me is that the rent for a 4 bed house in London is £3200 a month.
The property market in this country - whether owned or rented - is scandalous.

With my strategist hat on, this is good positioning. Whilst Lab, Tories & LDs obsess about Reform, the Greens understand the best way to fight them is with an equal & opposite force. One that focuses on hope & optimism rather than problems & nostalgia.
I'm undecided but increasingly interested.
