"It overshadows all the fear, to see a marlin lit up [with colour], hunting. It's an incredible experience" - Nikki Watt

OK, so I've taken the plunge into self-publishing (which I must say is fun). It's a music book. I have sparingly quoted snippets of lyrics -- 12 words at most, but usually fewer. Is that permitted under 'fair dealing' as a 'criticism or review', as long as the originator is acknowledged? #amwriting

Wow! Bendigo Writers Festival (15 - 17 Aug) is making guest speakers sign a last-minute agreement to not mention Israel's genocide of Palestinians. Writers who care about human rights are cancelling. Any writer/guest still thinking of appearing should seriously reconsider. Stand up! Refuse to comply

The NSW Police narrative is getting full airplay from the media, but is based on a falsehood. The protestors didn't try to turn back; the police blocked the march and forced everyone back the other way, for reasons that are difficult to understand.

Australia: “Federal funding to deal with algal bloom, but no national disaster declaration”

Cleaning the beaches does not “deal” with the undeclared elephant in the room - rising sea temperatures due to greenhouse gas emissions.

Another ABC failure.

Footage captured yesterday at Ardrossan, Yorke Peninsula, reveals more underwater impacts of SA's Harmful Algal Bloom.

With neon green water, the seabed was littered with dead and dying animals. There were also hundreds, if not thousands, of garfish on the seabed, some still alive.
