“The easy thing for the RBA to do is raise rates, point to the overall inflation figures and hope no one looks any further. The smart move is to look closer, and wait,” writes Greg Jericho, Chief Economist at The Australia Institute.

How is hosting Isaac Herzog next month any different to hosting Ratko Mladić at some time during the period 1992 and 1995, @albomp.bsky.social?

It's not, you know. Say what you like about Whitlam—at least Gough's legacy is not complicity in a genocide and hosting genocidaires. #auspol

The canaries are emerging; this could become one of the greatest own goals in Australian political history.
The Government’s invitation for President Herzog to visit must be rescinded - it will cause immense distress to many who have lost relatives in Gaza. This is a time to build social cohesion not blow it out of the water ! 💦

Also Denis, if they're not going to report the aged care cases to the public that means aged care will likely no longer be required to test and report COVID cases 😢 😡.

The discontinued Aged Care data was the basis of my "risk estimate", so I will not be able to continue producing that analysis.

Australian COVID-19 weekly stats update:

The risk estimate increased a touch to 0.1% “Currently Infectious”, or 1-in-812.

That implies a 4% chance that someone is infectious in a group of 30.

The overall view is muddied by patchy sequencing volumes. BA.3.2.* "Cicada", NB.1.8.1.* "Nimbus", JN.1.* +DeFLuQE (led by PE.1.4) and XFG.* "Stratus" all finished in the 22-26% range.

Scott Morrison’s Islamophobic rhetoric tells racists their hatred merely echoes a national concern
