But here we are, nearly 20 years later. The overgrowth has been tamed (but not too much). The rubble has gone or been absorbed into a place of walks, wildlife, and relaxation. Yes, housing matters. But we need space to breathe between the concrete. 5/5

Since the last ice age English Bluebells have thrived in our woodlands

For 10,000 years & with no indigenous threats, as an invasive & poisonous species, they slowly got on with their lives

And then non-native Muntjac Deer from Asia escaped from the Woburn Abbey estate

It’s not adding up.

Nature in England is in freefall, yet today’s Office for Environmental Protection report warns the Government is at serious risk of missing its legally binding targets to restore it.

That must be a wake-up call. ‼️

I need to hire a web designer who’s familiar with Astro to make a rebuild of the protect.earth website look like the current site or ideally better. I’m sick of Squarespace and I’ve got the implementation done but you need to make it look good. Looking for a fairly prompt turnaround on this one.

✂️ Yesterday I finally responded to @agakowalska.bsky.social’s challenge to make a collage from a single piece of packaging. I present to you a green (tea) woodpecker, made from a big Yorkshire Tea box. It was fun and I’ll be rooting through our recycling bin for more materials later on ♻️

* Assuming free fossil-fuel energy, free petrol cars, free gas boilers, free gas power plants etc

AND

* Including climate damages in the "cost" of net zero

Sam Olgar Hair Salon, 9 Bridge Street and 1 Skeldergate, York.
The Bridge Street buildings were built in 1820-21 when the new Ouse Bridge was built. In 1892, the date shown on rainwater hoppers, the adjoining buildings on Skeldergate were rebuilt.

Now turning back to the general issue of legitimacy, we can see that this use of lethal (and not only coercive) force appears from from any of those elements which can (in limited circumstances) render it legitimate. The extra-judicial execution of Renee Nicole Good seems not to have a legal basis, it was not in accordance with legal rules, was sanctioned (even implicitly) by those who seek to evade accountability, and it may not be capable of review by an independent court. The federal state is resisting working with the local police. It looks as if the state is confident it can get away with it. * But. The cost of the state getting away with it will be further diminution of the legitimacy of the state having a monopoly of coercive and legal power.
