I thought it was about time there was a new intro for me (and Daily #Wales). I’m in Eryri/Snowdonia, and am mildly obsessed with photographing it. Officially, I’m a food & wine editor, but also a spinner and knitter and an ex-archaeologist. I’m centre left and disgusted by the right ✊.
Daily #Wales hasn’t featured sheep for a while. This cannot be allowed to continue…

This week Nathan Gill, Reform UK’s Leader in Wales will be sentenced for 8 charges of Russian bribes.

Here’s Farage calling him an “honest, decent and honourable man”.

Let’s not forget that whilst he was taking the bribes, Farage was making similar pro-Russian speeches in the European Parliament.

#StandingStoneSunday The mighty Devil's Chair entrance stone at Avebury henge, Wiltshire. One of a handful of original stones that was never toppled by villagers

Coming from west Wales, the enormous scale of this monument & its megaliths is always a shock to the system 🤯

More harking back from Daily #Wales, but today (following a chat with friends yesterday) looking back to the snowy winter of 2010/11. Pretty but a pain in the arse - particularly when falling over.

Daily #Wales definitely harking back to summer before going out to see what damage Storm Claudia has caused …

Midsummer night on the beach. Sigh.

Daily #Wales is still recalling summer. Dry weather. That thing.

Beaumaris. It was hot. It didn’t rain.

Thread…. Grrrrr
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Two other UKIP MEPs, both of whom - like Nathan Gill - followed Farage into the Brexit Party, accompanied Gill on a trip paid for by pro-Russian interests.

And 6 weeks later echoed Gill's Putin-friendly talking points in Parliament.

What a small world!

Fifty-nine years ago today 116 children went to class never to return to their families after a coal spoil tip collapsed and engulfed the school. The tragedy also claimed the lives of 28 adults.

One of the darkest days in Wales’ history. Never forgotten.

Also Daily #Wales.

Heddiw, 1966. Cofiwch Aberfan.
Today, 1966. Remember Aberfan.

An avalanche of coal waste slid down the mountain, burying 18 houses and destroying the school, where the day had just started. 116 children died, as did 28 adults.

Daily #Wales for a (hopefully) quiet Sunday…

Garden detail from Plas Brondanw, taken a couple of Sundays ago - we were the only visitors. Nice.

A not-so-daily #Wales (life gets in the way sometimes) with a sheep. This one clearly has Opinions.

Daily #Wales spent yesterday with a visitor, playing tourist on the heritage steam train up to Blaenau Ffestiniog. It was fab (and despite the, um, interesting sky it stayed dry).
