I thought it was about time there was a new intro for me (and Daily #Wales). I’m in Eryri/Snowdonia, and am mildly obsessed with photographing it. Officially, I’m a food & wine editor, but also a spinner and knitter and an ex-archaeologist. I’m centre left and disgusted by the right ✊.
Daily #Wales with a distraction from politics (and weather).

A walk along the Mawddach Trail, on an incredibly hot day. We kept seeking shade and paddling… sigh.

Daily #Wales has been slipping lately (tax return time; politics). Weather? Interesting.

Accurate representation of DW yesterday. Don’t know the artist so can’t credit, but feel SEEN.

There it is.

Farage and Reform would end our NHS.

Millions of people could not afford to be ill under a Reform government.

Hen Galan Hapus! Happy Old New Year!

No Mari for Daily #Wales today because I posted about that rap battle tradition earlier. Instead, have snow on the mountains of the north (specifically Yr Wyddfa). Not this year though. This year it’s raining.

So Zahawi has joined Reform. Given he was sacked over his HMRC shenanigans (when he was actually chancellor, ie financial bigwig, and only a small matter of some £5m) he should fit right in with that bunch of grifters.

Quite how it will play out with their racist supporter base…

I suppose it’s seasonal… Daily #Wales with a Mari Llwyd. OK, with two, and they aren’t real horse skulls (can’t you tell?).

It’s a midwinter thing, and more south Wales than round here, but it’s being revived… 1/2

Reform UK's director for Wales has been removed from Cwmbran Community Council for failing to attend meetings.

David Thomas is also goes by the names "DJ Dowster" and "Dr Squeegees" (I am not joking).

In which Mumsnet women persuade each other that voting Reform will give the establishment “a kick in the arse”
Oh well done, you lot. Brexit again. Falling for the con and risking it all, cos that’ll teach them.

It won’t. It’ll just ruin life for everyone. Your children most of all.

I’ve massively cut down on my use of Amazon, and try to order books from Indies or my local Waterstones. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive but if you’re a middle-class book lover like me, you can probably afford it and it’s a small way of resisting the awfulness of the evil people ruining the world.
I'd love to think that there is a future where authors can completely disengage from Amazon and still earn a living. Where they feel no pressure to view Amazon sales rank or total Amazon reviews as a barometer of their success. We are not there yet. But some of us can hope. bsky.app/profile/dj-a...

Reform UK won’t say ‘private’ when talking about the NHS. Richard Tice is calling it ‘independent’:

"Instead of giving £26bn to the already bloated wasteful NHS, we proposed easing pressure on the health service by incentivising those who can afford to pay more to go independent with a tax break."

If you're still on X: why?

I had 270,000 followers when I closed my account.

But all I lost was 200,000 bots and trolls. The real people — the funny, the decent, the smart, the interesting — are already here. They'll find you.

Leave X. Just do it. It's personal, political and societal poison.

Daily #Wales with a stick-free potter at Llandanwg (took it, didn’t need it, knee didn’t protest until about 30 minutes in. Physio works … if you do it).

It was freezing, though, and populated with cold & complaining holidaymakers. In the other direction!
