Photographing the Milky Way has to be one of my favourite subjects.

Seeing the sheer number of stars combining together into the milky glow just makes me feel both insignificant and significant at the same time.

Isn't it just awe inspiring?

The warm evening glow lit up this ancient oak woodland in glorious warm light, turning it into what I’d call heaven. Each oak almost looks to be reaching up to the sky.

Alien life forms, here on earth.

I just loved the forms of the trees in this wood, adorned with countless other plants growing on them. An incredible sight to see and photograph!

The gnarled oaks of this #ancient #woodland in Dartmoor are absolutely spectacular. It’s one of the few last remaining temparate #rainforests in Britain.

The delicacy of the #ecosystem is obvious having visited, with the vast array of mosses, lichens, ferns and more all living in harmony.

I’ve felt a little disheartened on this platform lately. How are we finding it collectively for photography?

Here’s a previously unshared photograph of a beautiful woodland trail, where warm light leads the way into the autumnal colours.

Gold on gold around this battered and bruised ancient oak

I like to think these Oaks in this ancient forest are siblings, growing together over centuries. They have so much character, anchored into the ground beneath.

Sometimes, when reviewing photographs after shooting them, I just don’t like them. It’s only after a number of days when I look back that I see the potential. This image is an example of that.

Just look at the range of autumn colours and the depth of the fog into the distance on the right.

Golden sunlight just about broke through in this wonderful autumnal scene. The oak tree on the left looked like it had been in a fight, having lost several huge branches over the years.

The light at the end of this trail was wonderful, where trees had turned golden. Isn’t this just such an inviting scene?

I'm so glad I stayed long enough for the sun to burn off the low cloud at sunrise in this ancient woodland in the south of England.

When the light cast into the thick autumnal air, it lit up the interior colours so perfectly.

I call this photograph ‘into the void’.

The small road disappears into the fog and into the autumn colours of this beautiful woodland.

This gnarled beech oozed character. It felt almost like it had a personality, like it could have just walked away like an ent. It looked fantastic in the late evening sun, with the autumn colours behind.

The woodland exterior canopy turns golden whilst the interior is insulated and protected temporarily from the seasonal changes. I captured this phenomenon here during sunset in a local beechwood.

The autumn colours in British woodland are really putting on an amazing display at the moment. As we've had limited mist & fog, I've challenged myself to capture during the brief sunshine we have been having. Here is one of those moments. I hope you enjoy.

The autumn colours this year in British woodland are absolutely spectacular. It's like every leaf has been painted gold. Walking through woodlands like this is one hell of an experience!

Really pleased to share that three of my photographs scored very well in the prestigious Pano Awards this year. My best image was Bluebells at Sunrise, which scored 81, missing out on the Top 100 by a mere 0.25 points.

Huge congrats to all the other awarded photographers!

Happy Halloween 🎃

Here’s a few moodier photographs I’ve captured over the past year or so! Capturing the feeling from a photograph is always what I aim to achieve - and I hope that is what you feel browsing these captures!

I did a thing. I’m usually not good at doing this kind of thing.

I made a 2026 calendar. Lots of people make calendars. This is my one. I like to think with nice pics in it.

I have a few for sale. They’re on my Etsy from my profile. Thanks for looking.

Some fungi for you!

I probably look deranged in the woods hunting for tiny mushrooms, but finding them is so cool. Look at this tiny little group.
