Overheard at work:

Student 1: Of course Socrates isn’t real, do you think anyone would talk to Plato?

Student 2: Low-key, I feel that way about Saint Augustine. He HAD to be close with God because he was like, a weird homeschool kid.

So, uh. The consensus that it spits out is not really a "consensus," but is representative of a hegemonic view of what an answer "should be."

Given the overrepresentation of the global north in the data it scrapes, this has DISASTROUS consequences for a variety of fields, especially the humanities.
That was not the issue. My point was, that AI usually spits out what the current consensus is on a particular topic. Based on data it has scraped from a lot of sources. And on average it does a rather nice job at that. I don't expect it to be 100% accurate, similar to other information sources.

Mike Johnson is saying that the Epstein files pose a risk to National Security.

What exactly IS the risk?

Is it that it would take out half the people currently in power?

If so that’s not a risk, that’s a bonus.

It’s time to clean house. Pedophiles no longer welcome.

It is scary how frequently we encounter these extremely multi-drug resistant gram(-) organisms in routine clinical practice these days. This Providencia isolate is resistant to everything we tested it against (including salvage drugs not shown)
Antimicrobial resistance is a very real threat.

I really hate folks talking about “conspiracy theorists are right”

No, if it’s true it’s not a theory

And no I’m not applauding folks for needing white people to confirm and break things that folks have talked about for DECADES

If you are not in academia, you might not know this, but job interviews used to be held at conferences IN HOTEL ROOMS. Women candidates in a hotel room alone with often all-male committees. People sitting on beds! The horror stories I've heard.
I thing I sometimes thing about is that university departments were still doing job interviews in hotel rooms in the mid aughts

I have a lot of complicated feelings about the people who are only turning on the regime because of the 2026 ban on hemp products. That's their final straw? Of all things??? Really?

The most depressing thing about the Epstein “revelations” and the discussions they’re apparently provoking is that none of this is NEW. We knew these guys were horrible, said horrible things, took money from this creepazoid… People memory-holed it Because Great Men, and they’re going to do it again.

And to even ASK Michelle Obama, who HATED the White House & has NEVER held office, to run for POTUS proves how stupid and desperate most of you are.

You’d rather cling to a world that no longer exists and ride the road to hell on the back of nostalgia than help build a new one.

At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.
