averse to fear-mongering in all its forms.

if you must punch, please, consider punching up.

music is (still) a wonder drug. (most) books are magic. however, magic is not real.

i've caught bits of each episode of 'American Revolution' every night this week -- if not the whole episode.

it's been enlightening, for sure.

didn't know Rhiannon Giddens was involved -- until a few days ago, but that certainly tracks. #highlyrecommend
Congrats to Ken Burns & @pbs.org on their newly-released documentary: “The American Revolution.” It was such a rewarding process to bring the audience into the world of the 17th - 19th century through music, and illustrate the blending of these cultures.

Q: How long is the government funded in latest deal?

A: "The funding deal to end the record-long shutdown keeps much of the government running through Jan. 30, raising the risk of another impasse as the deadline approaches."

in hopes of fine print/focus triage. (Holiday Season Edition)

Took me a min to read Maggie Millner’s gr8 piece in @yalereview.bsky.social, but I’d noted the defensive IG comments when it appeared, which show the lightning speed w which lyric shame circulates. So chuffed she used my work so subtly!! yalereview.org/article/mill... “Is Mary Oliver Embarrassing?”

same idea, but not in a gallery.

in a crowded thoroughfare.

where some people w/could choose to ring the bells and others might just want to get from point A to point B quietly.

not intentionally disturbing or blocking anyone. but can't.
When I asked him to pose with it, he ended up activating the installation, which features bells too (look closely). A nice surprise.

but you don't know...how much i wish i had written this.
Every time someone’s like “put that in the louvre,” my head now goes “and then steal it from the louvre, the security password is louvre”

How the shutdown relates to autocracy. For the tyrant Congress and Parliament are expendable. I am the only one that matters Trump tells us. We deserve good governance and leaders who care about our welfare.

despite all this world-weary know it all-ism, all that's unfair and not in your immediate influence/control?

What actually helps you?

i hope you can do that.

likely to delete this later.
We have as much leverage as we’ve ever had — and Chuck Schumer is on the brink of taking a deal that gives Democrats NOTHING.

I’m glad Hakeem Jeffries will fight this in the House, but it should not get that far. Senate Dems must not cave.

Next time I’m talking to a young voter and they ask me how they can trust Democrats to fight for them, what the actual fuck am I supposed to say?

Oh they’ll fight for you until Chuck no longer feels like it?

i needed some pep talks, and days and days of listening -- mostly to music.

i needed to start hard conversations, to appreciate more of what i have, to notice an emotional intellect in wild birds.

i have a lifelong compulsion to share and a recent reluctance to do it.

it's not...great. but i still like things about it.

i remember... i really enjoyed thinking of it/discovering it.

then cut and paste/putting it together.
