averse to fear-mongering in all its forms.

if you must punch, please, consider punching up.

music is (still) a wonder drug. (most) books are magic. however, magic is not real.
Light Design is also lovely.

i have seen MANY Gary Oldman movies.

but i hadn't seen THIS Gary Oldman movie (Guildencrantz of RosemenStern?) until two years ago.

take this and all my selective fanaticism with a grain of salt.

with all the Stoppardian playfulness you can muster.

quick aside:

my 30 year affection for Gary Oldman, Shakespeare film adaptations ("The Scottish Play" (2020) was charming!, Lady MacBeth (2016) still slaps IF the kids are still saying that, Emma Thompson is Beatrice, sigh, and the Branagh Hamlet is the correct Hamlet, fight me) is well documented.

"...but, actually, the idea turns out to be the end product of the play, and the less I know about this play I am trying to write, the better.”

Stoppard said that there is a “misapprehension about creative writing, which is that the writer is working from a set of principles or a thesis and the play is the end product of that predisposition..."

i saw Tim Roth in a multi-stunner, pitch-perfect movie called Sundown (2022) just last week.

so maybe it's not too bizarre a leap, to circle back to this one.

i love his Rosencrantz! Or is he Guildenstern?
November 30, 2025 at 8:09 AM
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. not cinefiling.

this was before i read playwright and the film's director Tom Stoppard had passed away.
November 30, 2025 at 7:57 AM
i'm hesitating to share this: i had the film version of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern..." playing on in the background this morning.

well, no.

in the early hours of what is now yesterday morning.

i am cinefile adjacent. and sometimes i put it on like a classic album.

“I don’t think Stoppardian has a precise definition,” he self-deprecatingly told The Telegraph in 2010.

“To me, it means another hapless, feckless, fatuous episode in my life, brought on by my own forgetfulness or incompetence.”

possibly, the most compelling motive to want your judgment to stay in tune?

judgment affects outcome.

notable here..and potentially suppressive:

"Voters' personal identifying information could be shared on a case-by-case basis with Immigration and Customs Enforcement — also known as ICE — and Customs and Border Protection, or Border Patrol, if the SAVE program indicates 'potential fraud or misuse'"

love that it's the kinda documentary storytelling you can dip in and out of, that you can glean real significance from, without having to know all that came before.

my is our story COMPLEX!

always has been, always will be.

but told in this way, it becomes all the more inclusive & encouraging.
