It should absolutely be okay to have continuity issues and daftness with canon.

I appreciate the efforts to be consistent, but we can be a bit more loosey goosey with it.
It's way more fun to have a soft canon. Plus, Star Wars is supposed to be stories from long long ago, inconsistencies are completely on brand.
