Ha ha... Two in one chapter! We had to finagle the phrasing on this one so it didn't sound like (A) "We got covered in white stuff" (so many, many naughty nuances in EN...) or (B) "We became all white" (weird phrasing for what she's describing when turned to EN...)

To communicate this, we purposefully misspell words to give the impression that the child is using words they don't fully understand. This effect can be a lot stronger in EN in comparison to the JP, so we only allotted one misspelled/mispronounced word per parent description.

Anyway, a huge way that Japanese communicates that a character is young is by writing their lines with fewer kanji and more kana (hiragana / katakana.) But, of course, we only have one alphabet in English.

Translating manga requires a playful heart when it comes to sound effects. This SFX I'd normally translate as WILT / SLUMP / GLOOM, but none of my usuals really fit the visuals, so we went with something a bit cute-sy to match baby Tanpopo's vibe!

But just in case, we included "that's just how it goes" in the previous bubble to make sure the point fully got across no matter what...!! It seemed an appropriate point to stress, so sometimes we move in nuances or ideas around bubble sets for flow + so that everything fits.

Also, the "standard practice" element is similarly subsumed with "the kiddies gotta..." As another random example with similar structure, "Sharks gotta nibble to find out what you are!" implies that it is a standard/typical expectation. So it's a clean way to get that nuance in!

So, the "adult time is waiting" portion, I took the "waiting" as something that you look forward to. using the "get" verb in "get their fun" suggests that it's something they look forward to / have to be patient for in order to receive.

So, I went with "the grown-ups get their fun," since it pulls us away from any naughty interpretations, flows well, and is totally Shade's voice.
I also had to reformulate a lot of the sentence generally to get all the ideas in with brevity and readability smoothness.

We felt that just writing "Cheerleader outfits..." would be stiff for the scene, so we worked from Michi's character voice and her personality to determine what she might say in a similar situation in English.

JP: こんなにキラキラしてるもの (LIT: After all, they are sparkling this much.)
キラキラ (kirakira / sparkling) has a really wide use case in Japanese, so translating it is always a challenge.
