I'm a Freelance Manga Letterer

I love all things comics, especially woman targeted ones, which made me a crazy ShoJosei collector. Over 2,000 manga and counting

Also a huge bookworm.

Of course Adobe is excluding the standard, no AI plan that everyone wants to use from the black Friday sale. Of freaking course. Now I need to sit down and think really hard on what I can live without because this is a lot more expensive than what I paid last year.

Steam gave me a refund for anno 117: Pax Romana thankfully. So mad still, especially at seeing they also ai generated written dialogue. I was willing to blow 100 dollars on their game but now I’m prob going to avoid Ubisoft games like they’re infected.

So, I contacted Ubisoft support, and basically they at the very least admitted to using GenAI to create rough drafts for NPC dialogue which was then touched up by writers.
Now, Anno isn't exactly a story-centric franchise, but goddamnit this doesn't feel good.

Germ just brought it to my attention that Ubisoft is using AI generated imagery for the art in Anno 117: Pax Romana.

This us utter shit Ubisoft. WTF did I just pay 90 bucks for if you can't hire actual artists??

Is it the 13th yet? Work work work and then I'm taking the day off to play Anno 117: Pax Romana

I shall be Cesar. All will bow before me and my mighty Roman islands.

Don't ask me how much of my life I spent on the last Anno game. I loved it way too much.

I promised some samples of lettering from the manga
Hope You're Happy, Lemon by Mizuki Kishikawa, so here we go. It's now on sale!

Kishikawa's style is really fun, and super busy at times, and I had a lot of fun trying to match it.

Some BETTER LETTERER for you. And before the inevitable "that's not how I do it" replies, keep in mind that, by and large, this is how it's done in pro American comics (Marvel, DC, etc.) I've worked for all of them. More tips: blambot.com/pages/letter...

Big sudden manga preorder haul in for today. Soooo happy to finally be able to buy mushishi at a not crazy OOP price, and giddy to have another skip-beat book. Volume 51, blimey.

Back in my day, AI used to stand for Adobe Illustrator! And we hated that, too!

I’m in Victoria for a week and lucked out that my tea reservation at butchart gardens fell on a gorgeous, non-rainy day. Always love coming here for a walk.

Back in Victoria for a week and back to being mad I don’t live here. I shall relax, read books, see fall gardens, and dine away. Speaking of food, sad to see the pierogi bar closed.

Haha got more manga in. More Barnes and noble and instock trades.

Why yes I do read a particular type of manga.

I didn't expect to like Project Hail Mary that much, but I'm really loving Rocky, and the audio book is doing some fun stuff with the language.

Got the first wave of Barnes and Nobel sale books in along with a couple preorders. Even though I ordered them all the same day, I’m not seeing the other half show up til Saturday at the earliest it seems, but I’ll be away for a week and it’ll be up to my house sitter to get my boxes.

A friend might be able to pick up a Vivienne Westwood Nana for me at their BAM tonight. As someone who doesn't even have a BAM in their state, I'm super hopeful with fingers crossed.

Ugh. I know exactly who is to blame for packages taking forever to get to me now. Just wish my local USPS would stop pushing back delivery days of package delivery. And would my express mail from Japan please go back to how it used to be? But noooo, people need to make their own citizens suffer

I’m seriously missing episodic Star Trek. This last season of strange new worlds was all “Spock’s love life” and then bam, we have magical demonic good vs evil stuff, neither of which is what I want out of Star Trek. I also don’t hold DS9 as best trek. I watch trek for the episodic sci-fi stories.

I suddenly crave tacos for lunch but the only way for me to get them is doordash so now I must debate starving til dinner time (or digging around my pantry for something to eat like a normal person) or paying for over priced tacos
