I love reading and birdwatching & pics of cute cats and dogs. I'm a fan of books of all sorts, but especially SFF and nonfiction. I have a degree in Linguistics, and like learning about different languages.

My love for em dashes is as old as the hills and as mighty as my inability to make a transition between thoughts literally any other way and I will be damned if I let the clankers take that from me

My September reads - all were enjoyable, but my favorites were: A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna, A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen, and Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz. #booksky

Star Trek: Lower Decks is such a great series!
Lower Decks’ win is the first time in 30 years that a Star Trek story has won a Hugo Award.

The last one was “All Good Things” in 1995.

The Incandescent by Emily Tesh is one of my top reads of the year so far - might end up being my favorite of the year - such a great book! Compelling academic fantasy from a teacher's POV #booksky
#booksky this is a blockbuster year for WLW fantasy romance and no one’s talking about it

please read all these and get excited about them with me 🧵

The Incandescent is one of my few ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ novels so far

Josh Johnson is the new comedy superstar, and his incredible skill is somehow crafting perfect longform, topical routines in a matter of days
Finally got a chance to watch the @joshjohnsoncomedy.bsky.social routine about Trump and Epstein that came out a few days ago.

I am blown away that he managed to put together a full hour of stand-up about breaking news and it's somehow polished and funny as hell.

Give it a watch and share it.

My top reads of January. So glad to get the additional parts of Elma's story in The Lady Astronaut of Mars! Excellent backstory of Nadya in Seanan McGuire's most recent book in the Wayward Children series, and very much enjoying making my way through Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series.

Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.

This Hannah Arendt quote feels appropriate right now

"Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty."
