Surely it's happened before and I'm just noticing this one -- but kudos to Bloomberg's writers for getting not one, not two, but *three* companies that were named after Tolkien by tech's biggest nerds into the same item

Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein is the doctor.
Wisdom is understanding that the doctor IS the monster.

Shhh but see Trump doesn't know this
Had to explain this repeatedly during the 2020 interregnum: the Insurrection Act and martial law are not the same thing
Elaborating b/c there's a lot of misunderstanding on this.
Insurrection Act does nothing except you can then use soldiers as cops. They can enforce laws, but they're the same old laws. It doesn't suspend the Constitution. No martial law, no closing courts, no removing state officials, none of that.

A lot of media are focusing on the "want to punish" aspect of this, but what's "unprecedented" about it? The gov't shut down three times in Trump's first term 🤷♂️

Trump Calls Gov't Shutdown an “Unprecedented Opportunity” to Punish Political Opponents
President Trump has embraced the government shutdown as an “unprecedented opportunity” to punish his political opponents while slashing the federal workforce and cutting off funding to whole government agencies. On Thursday, Trump said budget chief Russell Vought will have the power to decide if...

I couldn't get tickets to the world premiere of Frankenstein in Imax. They sold out in milliseconds.
My only choice was to get there 40 minutes early and wait in the standby line.
Guillermo del Toro walked by, saw me waiting, and had his team give me one of his personal guest tickets.
