Spending Bill Would Pave Way for Senators to Sue Over Phone Searches
Republicans have voiced outrage that Jack Smith looked at G.O.P. lawmakers’ phone records surrounding the Jan. 6 attack. Legislation to reopen the government would allow them to sue for $500,000 each.

We're so glad for you, @kaine.senate.gov , that you slept well. That must be so reassuring for those whose lives are at risk and especially reassuring for Trump, who sends along his thanks.
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

This is an insult to every person who showed up for NO KINGS, everyone who voted last Tuesday, everyone who stands up to ICE, every judge who has held the legal line, every small town person who stands up week after week in their red rural area with their signs saying “Vote Blue”. THEY LET US DOWN!

I called for this with Kaine last night, but Brian is right that it holds true for King, Durbin and Fetterman too.
If I lived in Virginia, the second that Spanberger is sworn in as governor, I'd be demanding @kaine.senate.gov's resignation so she could replace him with someone who's actually aware of what is going on.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

It really does feel like they went “well of course standing up to Trump will help us win the election but after that we can give up” and about half the democrats in the Senate nodded along and decided which eight were going to have to look like goofballs
weirdly honest messaging from the breakaway mod/institutionalist leaders who blew up the party strategy

they're explicitly giving up. "It wasn't working so we quit" that's the message

I can tell you right now. In past election cycles, I've given hundreds of dollars to Dem office seekers.
Not one fucking dime from me for anyone running for office anywhere as a Democrat as long as Chuck Schumer is the party leader in the Senate.

Schumer's fuck up is that he probably thought the sacrificial eight could get things open and everyone else could quietly say no to look principled and everyone would be happy.

Such an absolutely clueless read of the moment. I hope the loud no he didn't anticipate takes him down.
Schumer and Kaine in their infinite wisdom have changed the storyline from "Dems ... actually can win?" to "Democrats shutdown the government and hurt a lot of people for nothing, and Mr. Trump is so strong, sir, the strongest"

Heritage is just cartoonishly evil. Just the worst scum on the face of the planet.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

I think our yeast has been infested with some kind of democratic leadership bug.

The last 3 or 4 loaves of bread & cinnamon rolls have not turned out quite right, following time tested recipes.

The dough has failed to rise (to the occasion) & the results have been somewhat heavy & flat, tho edible
