Them: Did you hear that two police officers were shot in Portland? Those antifa protestors are not nice!

Me: That wasn't a shooting at a protest. The police were called because someone was threatening another person with a knife.

Them: 🙄

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

One of the things I really encourage my friends (and in another life, my clients) to remember: not everyone is in your audience—not everyone is your customer.

It is actually a good business practice to not attempt to appease everyone.
Look at this absolute queen

It is deeply weird to be buying a house at this particular juncture in world history.

It's a concrete proclamation of hope in the future during a profoundly uncertain time.

Fender's upcoming over-ear headphones sound excellent!

No pun intended.

I didn’t expect Fender to steal CES, but its over-ear headphones did
I saw a lot of flashy tech at CES, but Fender’s first over-ear headphones stood out: they’re modular, repairable, and feature-rich.

when ICE asks you questions about your neighbors, you've never met your neighbors in your life. you've never even seen them from afar. neighbors? what neighbors?
ICE is targeting Hmong families in St. Paul as they go door to door looking for people to kidnap. they’re asking “do you have any Asian neighbors”

I can't help but wonder if Apple will actually dedicate resources to the apps included in Creator Studio, because their track record there is...not excellent.

I know that the logistic/legal aspect home buying is never the most fun, but home buying when you have an anxiety disorder is a special kind of hell.

The increasingly common habit of screenshotting the AI summary of a Google search and presenting it as evidence must be nipped in the bud immediately. That is nothing. That is not anything, it is not a thing.

Really wishing I’d had time to take that street first aid class. Does anyone have a good graphic/visual card for pepper spray? Is there a recommended pocket-size first aid kit?

Everything happening now has a precedent. This is not new. Please understand that everything happening now is very American. The only change is that it is happening on camera to middle income white people. Ask BIPOC and low income white people about abuses by the state.

Some people are probably saying that giving in to fear is letting Them win, because They want us to be afraid.

The thing is, it's normal and rational to be afraid. Fear is not the problem.

Choosing to stand by and do nothing in the face of fear is the problem.

Bravery is a choice.

We're in danger.
COMMENTARY: It seems an increasing number of Americans, including elected leaders and journalists, are afraid to tell the truth about what happened on January 6. That's dangerous.

Guys, we did it. We invented the Commodore 64
Also neat at CES: HP’s battery-powered PC built into a keyboard. Sort of a screenless laptop.

Gonna call my representatives on this last day of Arizona residency and then I am officially moved!

Because I have developed an intellectual crush on a specific historian, I've been watching a lot of documentaries on medieval England. You know how people were able to effect change over and over and over again?

Peasant revolts.
