‘Pallas's Warbler in Sycamore’

gouache, 20 x 14 cms

A number of these petite and lively warblers have arrived in the U.K. in the past week after flying all the way from east Asia. A few are usually found in late autumn on the coast or offshore islands. #pallas'swarbler #rarebirduk

Movies like this are the kind that make you realize why Doraemon has persisted for half a century.

On the surface, it's a fun fantasy adventure romp, full of creativity and charm. At its soul, it's a touching story about the importance and beauty of art.

I just can't stop loving these movies.

It doesn't matter if a drawing is skillful. All that matters is that it's made with the love of something only you can make.

So stoked for the bird representation in this! Pleistocene documentaries tend to be very mammal-focused (because Pleistocene mammals were super cool), so I'm excited to see some variety.
Years of work and collab with an incredible team at #BBCStudios #AppleTV @framestore.bsky.social ... involving so many camera operators, writers, producers, effects people, artists and others, #PrehistoricPlanetaIceAge is out on #AppleTV Nov 26th. A definitive vision of Ice Age wildlife worldwide.

It’s a minor thing, but I hope Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age emphasises that birds are dinosaurs this time. It’d make a great way to create a bridge between the two time periods, and make for some shock-wow factor for lay audiences where that’s still surprisingly poorly understood.

159.) COMPLETE - Doraemon: Nobita's New Dinosaur

As a rare third-take on a classic Doraemon concept (that being Nobita's Dinosaur), this proves unique for using the basic premise to craft a mostly original story.

The final result is damn good. Looks gorgeous, is big in scale, but simple at heart.

I’ve said before that proboscideans – the familiar group of placental mammals that includes living elephants and their many fossil relatives – have never been well served here at Tet Zoo…

Grateful to spend two days on the Klamath watching chinook, liberated by dam removal, return to streams from which they’d been precluded since the Titanic sank. Fish are everywhere, in numbers that stagger the mind & locations that biologists figured would take years to repopulate. Too beautiful.
