The rules barring ownership of doctor/dentist clinics or accountancy firms by private equity are moot.
They've "become staples of private equity portfolios. The complex financial structure that provides private equity with a workaround is inevitably coming to law..."
Awful example to lead the story.
When Cohen & Gresser, known for defending white-collar criminals such as Sam Bankman-Fried and Ghislaine Maxwell, hired bankers to sell a stake in itself to private equity, it turned heads in the US legal profession.

The government is saying this brings Ontario in line with other provinces. How does this compare with other Canadian provinces because that seems bad?

Yesterday I took a short trip on Line 5 that I would have taken otherwise by bus. Today, I rode Line 5 end to end. Jarrett Walker makes a number of good points here, not least about the need to extend lines 4 and 6 to make them proper grid lines.

I was in Eglinton station for like 15 minutes, and completely unable to find the Next Train displays, because every time I looked at these boards they were giving these Stand Clear messages.
The issue is they have it programmed so that the literal screen that tells you when the next train comes changes over to warning you not to step on the yellow line every time someone does this.

The point about a public enquiry isn't just, or even necessarily primarily, about finding out who is to blame or "holding them accountable." It's about documenting the problems encountered, and the errors made, and the lessons to be learned therefrom. In this case, it's essential.

This is a worrying exposé on the realities of corporate pharmacies, but we also need to recognize that the increasing use of pharmacists to prescribe drugs, assess minor ailments, and provide vaccines is a creeping privatisation of health care.
