Justin Webb thinks all young people come from privileged backgrounds and can be propped up by their parents.

None of them need a decent wage to support themselves.
Justin Webb: ‘shouldn’t it be made as cheap as possible for businesses to employ young people?’ (pay them less that £10 p.h.)

Businessman: ‘yes’

This is one of the most beautiful images of Jupiter I've ever seen!

Starting this Friday, four separate #JWST programmes will be exploring physical processes in Jupiter's atmosphere and ionosphere. We're asking amateur astronomers to help provide context imaging over the next few weeks to understand how the atmosphere is changing with time. #planetaryscience

Today is the first day of Ramadan, the first day of Adar, Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras.

This means that for one reason or another, the majority of humans on the planet have a reason to eat fried food, and that is beautiful.

I’m just going to keep yelling at the goal is to end your ability to own a personal computer and lock you into AI as well as cloud computing because otherwise they are going to go bankrupt, especially as people realize that the tech is a silicon prison bsky.app/profile/janu...
i think lots of people underestimate how badly these “AI” companies want people to be unable to afford computers. they view personal computing as a roadblock to their desire for complete end-to-end centralization. the fact that their tech is putting hardware out of reach is not just a happy accident

I really cannot over, emphasize the speed at which they are shutting down your ability to do personal computing in an effort to literally wall off the Internet as an entirely paid for enterprise that you must subscribe to in order to exist within. We are in very deep shit here.

This is an entirely authoritarian move, meant to lock people into ecosystems and walled off Gardens for life while also providing a perfect surveillance and surveillance capital system for the fascist oligarchy that controls our information spaces

This should be seen as a form of colonization

Personal computing outside of the cloud infrastructure that they have built is much less easy to monetize monitor and shut down and as we are seeing their goal is not the free transfer of information it is the tight control of what information is seen and the ability to monitor all users

The deep intersectionality between the digitization of the planet and fascism as well as capitalism or some of the most important intersections within this entire power system and understanding why they are attempting to cut your ability to do personal computing is key to understanding.

A couple months ago I talked about the end of personal computing and what that actually represented as a shift to totalizing control of worldwide information system. I never thought it would be in the next year I assumed in my analysis that is was 3-5 years out.

Jesus Christ.
The silicon microprocessor computer chip, the backbone of modern life, is about to leave the consumer marketplace. We are not prepared for the end of personal computing.
I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

BBC unveils Look Mum No Computer as UK’s Eurovision 2026 act
The BBC has officially announced that electronic musician and YouTube sensation **Look Mum No Computer** - the performance moniker of British artist **Sam Battle** - will represent the United Kingdom at the **Eurovision Song Contest 2026**. The reveal was made during _The Scott Mills Breakfast Show_ on BBC Radio 2, confirming weeks of speculation surrounding the UK's internally selected entry. Battle, known for his eccentric homemade synthesisers, experimental performance style and enthusiastic online following, expressed both excitement and disbelief at being chosen. “I find it completely bonkers to be jumping on this wonderful and wild journey… getting to join that legacy and fly the flag for the UK is an absolute honour that I am taking very seriously,” he said following the announcement. He added that he plans to bring “every ounce of creativity” to his Eurovision performance, hinting at the distinctive electronic flair that has made his videos and live shows so popular. Look Mum No Computer first emerged musically as the frontman of indie band **ZIBRA** , performing at Glastonbury’s **BBC Introducing** stage before transitioning into a solo career rooted in analogue synths, DIY circuitry and ambitious handmade musical machines. His YouTube channel - which showcases everything from giant drone synthesisers to instruments built from vintage electronics - has earned him more than a million followers and tens of millions of views, cementing his reputation as one of the UK’s most inventive electronic creators. The BBC praised him as a “multi‑talented solo artist, experimental singer‑songwriter, live electronics performer and inventor of unique musical machines,” highlighting the fresh creative direction the broadcaster is taking after a turbulent selection process this year. Reports had circulated that a previous candidate was dropped over historic online comments, although the BBC later denied that an offer had ever been made. Battle’s Eurovision track is yet to be unveiled, with the BBC confirming it will be released closer to the contest. Eurovision 2026 will take place this May in **Vienna** , following the victory of last year’s champion, **JJ**. The competition is already shaping up to be one of the most politically charged in recent years, with several countries pulling out due to controversy surrounding Israel’s participation.

Engineers!! Get on it!!
