Returning to fossil fuels is not a "pragmatic" decision. It is a delusional one.

@governor.ny.gov new gas pipelines are a violation of NYS’s climate law and an act of violence against the public.
Not a good look for the Governor, as she approves a new natural gas pipeline as well as gas for a crypto-mining operation. Both decisions fly in the face of NY's climate law.

If these people are ever thrown out of power, I hope we all understand there is no reformist pathway for institutions like this as much as Dems might desperately wish and claim there is.

NYS just committed to violating its own climate law to permit this pipeline instead of investing in clean infrastructure to meet energy demand & reliability.

In 2025, we know building fossil energy=enacting violence against current & future gens. Horrible.

INSANE to write about keystone xl as diplomacy without a mention of why the pipeline was cancelled in the first place: worsening climate impacts of gas.

No, keystone XL won't fix trade. WTF E&E news stop using the admin/industry framing and do some real journalism

Can the US and Canada revive Keystone XL?
An earlier push to build the pipeline ended during the Biden administration. Both countries could try again if they settle their trade war.

Disturbing & insightful
A year ago, Spain was hit by deadly floods

They were supercharged by climate change

Yet in their wake, climate-denying politicians gained influence - which risks undermining climate action, making people less safe

Today we publish new research on this troubling dynamic🧵

it's wild that the GOP keeps introducing "permitting reform" because headlines don't explicitly say "we're blocking affordable clean energy + building outdated fossil fuels that cost taxpayers $$"

but sure the left is the problem in climate & energy policy
I love how, to centrists / the Abundance faction, “the left” has blocked clean-energy development in America, but also Democrats should not talk about climate change because doing so associates them with “the left.”

Make it make sense.

One more note. Someone a lot smarter than me made a similar point in The NY Times this morning. @tressiemcphd.bsky.social argued against democrats trying to run to the middle. It hasn’t worked. Try doing the things suggested by more progressive and populist people.

ICE kidnapped a 7th-grader with a pending asylum claim and spirited him out of state without notifying his parents, seemingly with the cooperation of the local police in Everett, MA.
