If a person's desire to *be* the change outweighs their desire to *see* the change, be cautious of them no matter how virtuous the cause they're leading the charge on

They may want credit more than progress

This. Absolutely this.
"While much has been written about the vulnerabilities of contingent faculty, there has been almost no discussion of the academic freedom needs of one of higher education’s most rapidly growing workforces: third-space professionals." #HigherEd #Staff #AcademicLibraries
Academic Staff Need Academic Freedom, Too (opinion)
Colleges cannot continue to operate as if all staff work is identical, Aaron Stoller writes.

All library workers, regardless of job title or status, deserve a good wage, academic freedom, and support for any research and publishing they would like to pursue. Library classism is damaging to individual people and to the field collectively.

After Congress stripped away funding for @npr.org and @pbs.org, a lot of us are wondering how we can best support the most vulnerable stations. My former NPR colleague Alex Curley created this "Adopt A Station" website to help you find (and donate to) the stations most at risk. adoptastation.org
Adopt A Station - Rescue Public Media
Help preserve independent journalism and community programming across America by adopting a public media station. Congress has voted to rescind public media's funding.

today is National Library Workers Day, and i am asking you to support library workers by

-using your library (it matters!);

-defending library workers against the ongoing efforts to intimidate, silence, and criminalize them;

-advocating for better pay for them. 📚

The library is the only place that Americans experience the fullness of what it means to remove goods from the market. It pings our consciousness. Hey we could love differently!
Internet friends, I understand if you are green with envy at me for attending this great talk last night!

"Who's afraid of libraries?" was the rhetorical opener and I loved the point (among many) that libraries are where things are free. "a CVS looks really weird after you've been to the library."
A rainy Monday night. A rusty writer/speaker. A full house. An enthusiastic discussion.

I left with a bottle of brown.

Thank you, Durham Public Library, all the Tre-yonce fans, and #LibraryFest25.

When creating PDFs, avoid using "Print to PDF." A screen reader user may still be able to access the text of PDFs created this way, but heading structure, alternative text, and any other tag structure will be lost. Using "Save As" or "Export" can preserve these tags.
