Ten or twenty years ago, if an executive came out and said "actually our products can't be trusted" the stock would take a nosedive rather than go up.
The casual way this techbro talks about the "error-prone" products they are throwing out into the world, the necessity for the consumer to accept, train for, and correct for these, and the impending economic chaos wrought by the frenzy they are creating as though it's normal and natural: holy hell.

Data collection at scale is a national security issue. This trading is happening even with GDPR protections.

And yet the Commission is advocating changes that would remove such data from the scope of the regulation.

"Simplification" is just deregulation and this is a horrible idea.
Furthermore, the GDPR is to be reviewed in light of the latest CJEU judgement in the EDPS vs SRB case regarding the concept of pseudonymised data. In addition, the GDPR is supposed to get new provision for handling cookies. Moreover, a new Data Retention Regulation will be drafted.

The Norwegian Court of Appeal has upheld the fine against Grindr, based on our 2020 complaint. Hopefully this sets a legal precedent for the adtech industry.

Is it legal for publishers to force you to "consent" to a data free-for-all as payment for entering their sites & apps?

No.

Over the summer we have been talking to EU data watchdogs, detailing the case law and enforcement decisions.

Case law and enforcement decisions show that Europe's data watchdogs already have all the evidence they need to reject Pay or OK
