Gary Lineker: "This is the mistake the BBC makes. The BBC tries to appease the people that hate the BBC, rather than worrying about the people that love the BBC."

Brexit will break every government until it's overturned.
Headline from a serious and long working paper on the economic impact of Brexit. Possible that this has been feeding into OBR and HMT discussions?

I avoid using it and use DeepSeek instead. It uses a fraction of resources.

Saw a vid which compared the 2 by asking the maths question what is the 52 factorial. Both were crap with the answer as LLMs aren't good at maths, but ChatGPT cost 11 cents, and DeepSeek 0.00006 cents!
Artificial intelligence has a reputation for being power-hungry, and it is.

So what is it's impact on sustainability?

Stephen McNair reports on what you can do...
How much energy does ChatGPT really use?
You shouldn’t really worry about your energy use when using domestic AI, it’s probably no worse than watching your favourite soap

And Labour are doing nothing
See what’s happening. A Trumpist US media company has taken over Channel 5. Another US company is gunning for ITV. Our social media is saturated by Musk’s calls for civil war in the UK. The BBC is the last thing standing, and Trump/Johnson are trying to bring it down
November 10, 2025 at 7:47 AM
Nailed it.
Hungry people get angry. Angry people get violent.

Trump is trying to incite violence.

The Military Covenant is a sham by every flavour of government.
This is no way to treat our veterans Prime Minister.

It’s now over a month since PM agreed on BBCBreakfast to meet with the nuclear test veterans (having kept them waiting more than a year to discuss the justice & compensation Labour committed to in opposition) & still no date offered by his office
These national heroes have now waited more than a year for a meeting with Keir Starmer to discuss the justice & compensation Labour committed to in opposition. They are now in their eighties and are dying waiting for justice. This is no way to treat veterans Prime Minister

Having lived in Germany as a child, I'll never forget the day the wall came down.
From division to unity. From walls to freedom. From barriers to bridges.

It was courage and determination that brought down the Berlin Wall 36 years ago.

Today, that same spirit must guide us as we continue building a Europe of peace.

Will @labourlist.bsky.social read the replies and reflect?

I won't hold my breath.

The right wing are so transparent
Eight child abusers were jailed today.
8 child sexual predators who had been operating in areas such as Gravesend, Gillingham, Swanley, & Margate jailed for a combined 100 years.
This managed not to be the top story on repeat for BBC, itv or sky News.

I wonder why.

It seems pretty risky to tell people they won't see the change they want if they vote Green, given that they already voted Labour and didn't see the change they wanted.
Greens’ ‘undeliverable’ promises will let voters down, says Labour minister

Harsh but fair.
"Seizing Brexit opportunities to deregulate" was mostly unspecified magic fairy pixie bullshit then, and it's not going to get any more realistic in the hands of a bunch of Reform clowns who don't know how anything works, don't care to learn and disdain anyone that might.
November 8, 2025 at 9:41 AM
Farage doesn't want a state at all, he wants a kleptocracy like his beloved 🇷🇺
Nigel Farage says Reform would “reduce the size of the bloated state” by seizing Brexit opportunities to deregulate

@jreland.bsky.social points out in @the-independent.com that this creates a dilemma - the more the UK does things differently to the EU, the more work there is for British bureaucrats

I deleted the BBC news app from my phone about 5 years ago specifically because of lying by ommission.
The @bbcnews-uk-rss.bsky.social know what they’re doing.

It’s very sad but once respected, through diligence and the search of the truth now lies in tatters.

The BBC cannot be trusted when it comes to news. Omissions that don’t suit the agenda, disproportionate support for fascist parties.

Dear GOD if you want to save money in the asylum system

1. LET ASYLUM SEEKERS WORK

2. FAST TRACK STATUS FOR EVERYONE FROM CLEARLY UNDAFE COUNTRIES like Sudan, Syria, etc

3. Run an asylum accommodation system that is NOT FOR PROFIT #r4today

The French of Britanny are more historically British than the Anglo-Saxons of the UK.

If only right wing nut jobs could stop being such arses.

Transparency and Review of the free zones and ports impacts

Just 72 votes to go to get a reply from government

106 to go
Sharing this again. Amazing response - this petition is now only 116 signatures short. If you’ve already signed it would be lovely if you could share with your network.

Many thanks for those who have signed and shared already,
URGENT: 6 WEEKS LEFT - We're 743 signatures away from forcing a Government response

Utterly disgusting from Mayfield.
‘If you’re disabled, you’re not ill.’
Sir Charlie Mayfield (author of the Keep Britain Working review)

This is who’s shaping UK disability employment policy. Shocking, he doesn’t even understand the basics.

I’m disabled because I’m chronically ill with #MECFS.

We see something similar in the UK.

Most benefits go to people IN WORK.

Because there are not enough properly paid jobs.

Rather than insisting employers pay decent wages, governments use taxpayers’ money to subsidise employers who don’t.

Welfare was not meant to support employers.

This is wrong
The fact a *single* Amazon full-time employee requires SNAP benefits should be a crime. The fact Amazon is the largest employer of SNAP recipients is a disgrace. Jeff Bezos shouldnt be that rich; he should be in jail.

I am not a lawyer, just a historian, but one fundamental problem with the political debate about the EU, especially in English publications is that the whole principle of the acquis communnitaire is not understood or taken seriously. The EU is a framework of rules, not an alliance.
