"Because history doesn’t judge societies by how long they kept believing the lie —
It judges them by when they finally stopped."
Here’s a dirty little secret of 2025 that’s not as depressing as it seems:
Losing faith in institutions wasn’t nihilism. It was discernment - an informed adult response to watching dudebro arsonists assume control of the fire department.

ABC: Noem said Pretti committed an act of domestic terrorism. Stephen Miller labeled him a domestic terrorist. Does the president agree?

LEAVITT: I have not heard the president characterize Mr Pretti in that way

I know guys who kicked in doors in those places, as opposed to their lifer bosses, and I remember a common refrain was "No shit there's an unending insurgency that can wait us out, how mad would your hometown be if someone rolled in on them like this"
MAGA military geniuses are talking about Minnesota protestors like they are the Iraqi insurgency, the Taliban, and the Viet Cong all rolled into one.

I wonder if the latest ICE murder will put a damper on the screening of ‘Melania’ at the White House tonight. We are being led by violent morons and it’s time to revolt. Send these f*ckers a message. P.S, Mel was a paid escort not a model. It was not a secret in NYC.

I hope the obvious lies coming from Trump and his ilk about ICE and their murderous actions shows the folks who believed his assassination attempt that it too was complete BS. Dude made a campaign commercial and pretended he get shot and MSM ate that fake ass stunt with a spoon.

Trump never came clean about why he was rushed to Walter Reed in first term (he had recently been hanging w old friends at MSG UFC fight❄️) and he damn sure didn’t see a doctor after being ‘shot’ in Butler, PA. But MSM mostly went along for the ride. No wonder they BS USA now.

‘I’m sending the corpulent townie sh*tbag who accepted 50k in cash in a brown paper bag for a bribe and speaks like your racist uncle with a pound of butter in his mouth to Minneapolis today’ isn’t the leadership Trump thinks it is. F*ck ICE.

this is actually a very accurate report on what we're doing, except for the outside assistance and "lethal harassment" part. it's a massive, decentralized network. ICE cars enter the neighborhood, instantly pick up several tails, are logged, and are escorted out. it's hopeless. you should leave.
The rest of it is even funnier

part of why we are driving ICE absolutely mad is that we are using tactics that do not really permit them to legally arrest us. they cannot operate the way they want to operate when we have eyes on them.

they want to be a secret police and we simply will not let them be secret

Every Democratic Senator must vote NO on DHS/ICE funding. Continuing to fund this agency that is terrorizing and murdering our people makes you complicit. They EXECUTED Alex Pretti.

Every Senator must draw a line in the stand here.

A hearing is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET) on the state of Minnesota's request to halt the ICE surge in the Twin Cities.

I'm covering the proceedings remotely.

From the state's memo:

Probably the way I became a senate staffer in the first place is I used to totally buy when official people said things like this.

"Oh look, I know it SEEMS that way but you need to consider some other angle."

I've been around the block enough to know this is almost always bullshit.
Are you kidding me? This is the NYTimes editorial board's closing graf. In an editorial titled "The Trump Administration is Lying to Our Faces," their grand moral conclusion is that they will not believe their own eyes until a federal investigation says they can. Craven, self-righteous cowards.

In research or scientific settings, this sort of thing is super helpful. But that is assuming the people you are working with are working in good faith and don't reflexively throw up road blocks to avoid everyone adding two and two to make four.
