The living embodiment of Cabot Sharp Cheddar and a mid-shelf Malbec. Lacks sophistication; adequate.
Ok, so the @rifftrax.com guys announce new old-school DIY-style #MST3K eps, and then a week later announce that @tracebeaulieu.bsky.social and @frankconniff.bsky.social will be reprising their roles and co-writing an ep?!

People, that is how you make a cynical old man cry.

My dad owns a humiliating number* of Mitch Miller albums.

* more than zero
Inspired by @terrybuckalew.bsky.social I got to thinking about how my parents’ taste in music ran to the straightest, whitest, blandest shit imaginable in the 70s. The only decent album they owned, which must have been purchased by mistake, was Goodbye YBR, and I wore that LP out on the old stereo.

Post-Constructed Nachos

(Crumble tortilla chips, top with cheese and salsa, warm/melt, mix, stir in sour cream, jalapeños, shredded lettuce, or whatever else you want, and eat it with a spoon. Don't at me, I swear it's not as depressing as it sounds.)

Yes, please.

I wonder if Radial Entertainment's recent acquisition of the brand had anything to do with making this possible...? Either way, I'm just glad someone's making more #MST3K.

Had a hypothetical conversation recently about what constitutes appropriate/inappropriate age gaps WRT dating. All I know is that if you can sneak out a fart in public without having an emergency exit strategy mapped out, we're in very different stages of life. Sorry, it's not going to work out.

For any Toad lovers that might not know, they finally released Rings: The Acoustic Sessions this week. The album features acoustic re-imaginings from 14 songs spanning their entire career. Available to download on Bandcamp. HIGHLY recommended.

Apparently, a little-known piece of Teams etiquette is that you should ask everyone to come on camera before proceeding to share a PowerPoint deck for the entire meeting.

Ok, podcasts growing their audience on YouTube--I get that. There's an extra level of engagement, the platform accommodates the medium well, etc...

But Podcasts on Netflix...?!

Had a talk with my dad last night where he verbalized some things that I knew were there, but I've never actually heard him say out loud. It was gross; I'm feeling a bit sick over it today. Didn't help that he texted me a faux apology and asked me to call, then doubled down on the phone. 🤦‍♂️🤮

As I was returning from a grocery run and pulling into my driveway, One Headlight came up on my "Sad Bastard" playlist, and @rainbowofcrazy.bsky.social will be happy to know that I stayed in the car to take it all in. AWW YEAH

I think one of the most pretentious things you can do during the holidays is sing that version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen where the 2nd "comfort and joy" is quarter note triplets. It's an xmas carol, people, not a syncopation contest.

This resonates so much. The dive that defined my 20's was Blinco's in the late 90's and early aughts. For the #Raleigh folks out there, I'm talking about the original location on Millbrook.

The owner was from upstate NY so it was a taste of home. Beef on weck, garbage plates, and...
(1/6)
Just found out the dive bar where I spent my 20’s sold their liquor license to “a new upscale chain the Seaport” and burst into tears.

I know I still have my memories, but that place truly changed my life.

Joe Pera Talks With You

Which is odd, because it wasn't intended to be the series finale, but it was a pretty perfect bow on the series. Everyone seemed to be in a good place and Joe was venturing out into new (but relatively safe and predictable) horizons. Exactly what you'd want for that series.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

I know I'm way late to the party on this, but I "discovered" sticky toffee pudding this year. I made it for xmas and made it again today and I think I have a new favorite winter dessert. 😋

A friend and I got each other Cameos from @mrdavehill.bsky.social for xmas and neither of us had any idea that the other was doing the same thing, so that is the bones of my new elevator pitch for a Lifetime Christmas miracle movie.
