The thing about this stuff leading to the AI crash is that pretty big chunks of society already rest on false conclusions based on dubious evidence. Policy and business decisions are vibes already.

Big chunks of my high school years leaving us this past week. Hard to overstate how big 3 Doors Down and Dawson's Creek were. Very sad.

Aussie writers, who dropped "intimadatory" into the lexicon today? Terrible word. Barbarous as Orwell might say.

Surreal experience of running into some kind of "end of the road" in any given academic field, content area, whatever. This is maybe the only full study on model-making ever written, and its essentially inaccessible except for this Google Books preview. www.google.com.au/books/editio...
Remaking the World
Modeling - building, operating, collecting models of all kinds - involves people from many walks of life. From "folk" to highly trained professionals, from skilled artisans to dreamers, modeling is an...

Am I making a huge mistake with search terms, or is this all there is on Google Scholar about "toy" model trains & adult recreation?

I was thinking along similar lines the other day. People are saying "performative" when they mean "communicative (derogatory)". Same family tree as virtue signaling, politically correct etc. Always imputes deception to the speaker.
“Performative” doesn’t mean fake or superficial or meaningless. It means the opposite.

Just spent a very fulfilling 90 minutes moving some letters and numbers from one PDF into several others while ensuring to change the 1% of those values that actually matter.

I'm increasingly convinced that he played a part in things, but wasn't the "trigger" as much as he was deliberately putting his fingers in many pies. There are likely dozens of connections to things that did not eventuate into any meaningful social change. That said: why so many fingers?

Or an emu who has *not* forgotten it's a dinosaur.
‘HOPE IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS,’ EMILY DICKINSON
famously wrote, and that often leads to pictures of doves sitting quietly and looking sweet, but what if hope is an albatross that can soar for years without stopping, or an osprey that can haul a thrashing salmon out of rough waters?

Good read. In detail: damning, disheartening, disappointing.

In general: unsurprising and consistent. These dudes see *everything* as a vector for gathering personal power at the explicit expense of anyone outside their little circle.
