The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

God I’m so stoked, this fucks so immensely

Wanted a non-intrusive living room PC solution for a longggg time, what a fun product to look forward to if I can remotely afford it at some point next year LOL

Steam Frame is exciting too, very interested as the Index was the gold standard for a while
Steam Frame, Steam Controller, Steam Machine announcement is expected soon, here's a first look!

YEP, this stuff’s crazy to think about, especially how I can somehow actually remember the VHS I obsessively watched on repeat as a kid looking much closer to the 35mm
Pixar designed Toy Story to be printed on physical film. The Disney renaissance movies were the same.

Today, it's hard to see them as they were meant to be seen. The versions on streaming and home media aren't quite the same films that ruled the '90s:

“Content” is a corpo-brain term, makes me cringe when I hear it in the wild.

You don’t make “content”, you make ART! You write STORIES. Its your WORK (and often play too)!

“Content” is the noise you flick through when trying to find a SHOW you like, don’t cheapen your work comparing it to SLOP. 😤
"Content" is a blatantly misleading term to use for fanworks. Fanworks are the antithesis of content; content is produced for individual gain and consuming, whereas fanworks are created out of inspiration and the communal experience.
start using "fanworks" again instead of "content" let's go people

Content.
Consumer.

These are words that lack the artistic soul and strip away the human element in how we enjoy things.

Okay sorry I just want to say that it's a pretty clear sign both of how devastated the media landscape is and how hard it has especially hit women that we are not INUNDATED with cool writing at every single outlet about Silksong and WOMEN

Oh for SURE it's not widely held, but stuff like this is getting more common. Maybe more silly people are speaking up now, but like... even how people talked about and handled parts of Silksong is telling for me. Too much friction getting seen as a design mistake and not an act of communication.
I mean is "the soft gating around the catacombs early in DS1 is bad design" really a widely held view though. It feels like maybe this is just one clown with a youtube channel.

Love Tara rightfully boiling over this lol. It's so funny that this was something people brought up constantly when the game came out as GOOD design, but as years go on, games train people more and more to NOT actively engage with and respond to what they're experiencing.
I'm watching a vid on Silksong and they're saying Dark Souls 1 had a 'bad' opening section (firelink) because, while there are multiple paths, there's only one you can fully pursue. Thus the others are 'fake' and it's a 'guess' as to whether you have a 'good' or 'awful' time...

Lots of hard, shitty lessons being learned from this presidency. And one of the many I hope you're learning is, white supremacy is incompatible with reality, and cannot exist without historical revisionism.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

This vote has not happened yet. Call your Senators, especially your Democratic Senators, and tell them that a deal without protection NOW for health insurance tax credits is unacceptable.
